UCLA players thank Trump, get suspended indefinitely

President Trump got his wish Wednesday afternoon when the three UCLA basketball players busted in China for shoplifting thanked him for his help in getting them home.

The three, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley and LiAngelo Ball — younger brother of Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball — also apologized to their families and their school, while thanking the Chinese cops for treating them well.

“I would like to thank President Trump and the United States government for the help they provided. I am grateful to be back home and I will never make a mistake like this again. I am extremely sorry for those that I let down,” said Ball, reading from a script in a monotone.

A contrite Riley and Hill expressed similar sentiments.

All three have been suspended indefinitely by UCLA.

Oh dear... :( . As a UCLA fan, this is embarrassing. Basketball is HUGE in China, and there is a lot of America-admiration mixed with deep envy over the skill of our basketball players. Particularly that of black players. Resentment in that area, but overall, I’m told black tourists are treated well in China and Asia as a whole.

They stole sunglasses at Louis Vuitton? Surely they’d eventually make enough money to afford a pair without having to steal. Good grief!

.
I wonder if they shouted “Hands Up -Bon’t Shoot” or “Black Lives Matter” to the Chinese police?

.
Yep!

The NBA should be required to submit their entire roster with photos and finger prints to the NCI registry just for GP!

I was sitting in a watering hole last night that was showing the Duke-MSU game on one of their TV’s. At halftime the talking heads brought this up and asked what the punishment should be.

One guy said to suspend them a couple of games. Te other 2 were incredulous. It was interesting to see.

Thank you. I cannot imagine taking that risk to look cool, or for any other reason.

I am so sick and tired of hearing the word "mistake" being used for deliberate criminal acts. It isn't a mistake when you plan, and execute an act that's against the law.

One thanked and acknowledged God and may have been reading the Bible during this trial. May we extend love and mercy, not judgment.

Coach Steve Alford has had big “student-ATHLETE” issues along the way. Does not seem to be of concern to the big sports industry.

Maybe these boneheads learned something—which is likely more of a real education than anything useful tendered by UselessCLA.

They seem like great guys. God bless them. LORD knows we’ve ALL sinned and don’t have to answer to the whole world for them.

I think i would dismiss them from the team. Give their “scholarship” to more deserving athletes.Let other schools deal with these brain dead players. Plus...ucla needs to divest from the Ball family. They aint worth the hassle....
