Jerry Jones Forfeiting Cowboys Reportedly Discussed by Owners over Goodell Saga
Bleacher Report ^

Posted on 11/12/2017 8:45:25 PM PST by TigerClaws

NFL owners have reportedly brought up the idea of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones forfeiting the franchise.

On Sunday, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk cited a league source who said "multiple owners already have been discussing the possibility, which flows from Article VIII of the NFL's Constitution and Bylaws."

One of the sections of the article allows the commissioner to essentially force the forfeiture of a team if the owner "has been or is guilty of conduct detrimental to the welfare of the league or professional football" and a $500,000 fine is deemed "not adequate or sufficient."

Florio granted such a move "would trigger years of litigation" and explained the notion of applying it to Jones specifically "comes from the belief among owners that Jones instigated Papa John's CEO John Schnatter to disparage the NFL, blaming league leadership for ratings declines and, in turn, a reduction in Papa John's revenues."

The news comes after a period of time when Jones' name and the Cowboys were in plenty of NFL headlines.

His team's star running back, Ezekiel Elliott, started his six-game suspension stemming from a domestic violence investigation Sunday during Dallas' 27-7 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The ongoing case has been litigated throughout the NFL season and will continue to be moving forward.

Jones also weighed in on the notion of players protesting police brutality and racial inequality by kneeling during the national anthem, saying anyone who "disrespects the flag" will not be allowed to play, per Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the comments triggered a team meeting.

According to Jeff Darlington of ESPN, Jones didn't even speak with Falcons owner Arthur Blank before Sunday's contest. Clarence E. Hill Jr. and Drew Davison of the Star-Telegram noted Blank—who SportsDay said is the compensation committee chairman for owners who will decide on Roger Goodell's potential contract extension—and Jones "are at odds" regarding the extension.

Hill and Davison said "Jones threatened to sue the league" and "contends that Blank has misled owners about having the unanimous approval of the six-man committee to extend Goodell."

In what way would the 14th apply to and override a private organization’s by-laws?

How many years until the left gets “conservatives” to go after Christianity. It’s only a matter of time.

“The NFL was one of the last bastions against them.”

The key word there is “was”. It seems about half the players are America hating lefties, and the owners either are too, or are too afraid to do anything about it as there brand is destroyed.

Every twist and turn shows me something about how the NFL is managed, and the thinking of its crony, insider, elitist, tone deaf style.

Its not pretty.

The NFL chose to get in bed with the SJW’s and are confounded as to why they now have lesions on their genitalia. As I think David Burge on Twitter remarked, the job of the left is to:
1) Identify a respected institution
2) Kill it
3) Gut it
4) Wear its carcass as a skin suit and demand respect

Goodell is turning the NFL into professional wrestling.

I feel Goodell is turning the NFL into CNN.

This is laughable. Jones is easily the most powerful owner in the NFL, he owns the richest franchise in the league and there are a number of other owners who support him - Mark Davis of the Raiders and Stan Kroenke of the Rams to name two, since he engineered their moves to new cities.

There may be a couple of buffoons in the league office feeding Florio this story at Goodell's behest, but if any one man can be said to be the NFL, it's Jones. It gives me no pleasure to say this about Jones, as I am a 49ers fan, but it's a fact. Forcing Jones out of the NFL is about as likely as forcing numbered jerseys out of the NFL.

But it's cute watching Goodell trying to play the malicious leak game like the big boys.

>Wow, you really don’t get it. The left is thrilled about this. The NFL was one of the last bastions against them. Now they got conservatives, regular people hating it. That’s a total victory for the left.

Very true. This is why I don’t push boycotting the NFL. Now that the left owns them they’re going to die a slow painful death like so many of the institutions the left has gutted in the past. I take no joy in it.

There’s no hope of saving the NFL and with or without a boycott people are going to stop watching as the left guts them from top to bottom. It may take 10 or 15 years, but it’s going to happen.

Let the NFL be a lesson to us all: Never let a leftist in your groups. Purge them, drive them out, and spit on them as they flee. They are the great destroyers of institutions and life.

It could happen. Jones made a mistake when he kneeled with the players. I feel no desire to support him and most of his natural allies will not back him up because of it. Never submit to the left.

IMO, Jones is more powerful than the other 31 combined. He revolutionized the revenue potential marketing an nfl team. The rest followed. They really are this stupid.

The book SWJs ALWAYS LIE goes into detail how they infiltrate institutions and destroy them.

Leftists hated football - masculine, American, flyovers and flags, cheerleaders, winners and losers, and basically everything they hate.

The weak link? The players!

The Mizzou Tigers two years ago showed that you can co-opt the football players (tell them not to be Uncle Toms) and get the fans to hate the players. It killed the sport there.

Enter the Muslim convert Kaepernick. He was co-opted by his Muzzie SJW girlfriend. He’s got issues being half white and being the recipient of great benefits - unearned millions basically. Easy target.

Then the MSM showered him with honors and attention as if he was ‘keepin’ it real’ while the other blacks were selling out to da man.

NFL didn’t want the ‘optics’ of white owners cracking the whips getting black players to get back in line. So they ignored it and it got worse. Remember also, the NFL and the rich owners are out of touch with the average Joe fan. They’re either not watching at all (the SJWs hate football) or in their skyboxes. They think things like the flag and anthem are for kids and the rubes. They forgot their core fanbase is comprised of America-loving, beer-swilling white dudes.

What would happen if they didn’t?

League is 75% white.

Look at the white QB for the Raiders who didn’t lock arms with the brothers. What happened? They didn’t block for him and he got injured.

Lot of white officers in Vietnam murdered by their own men, too.

You go along to get along or you become a casualty.

Sources: Committee to talk Roger Goodell contract; last commish proposal included $49.5M salary, private jet

The committee will address Goodell’s salary and compensation package. The last written counterproposal from Goodell, which was around the first of August, was seeking about $49.5 million per year, as well as the lifetime use of a private jet and lifetime health insurance for his family, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.

NFL revenue has increased 50% under Goodell. He will remain as commissioner.

I bet that was before this season. I wouldn't be a bit surprised to find revenue at the end of this season down 50% or more. You can see it every Sunday in the stands that are half or more empty.

People in bars aren't getting near as worked up over it as they used to. Sure, some die hard fans are still gonna root for their teams, probably those who agree with the kneelers anyway. When an organization alienates over half of its fans/viewers; things don't usually go to well in the accountants office at the end of the year/season. It trickles down to bars and restaurants too. Even pizza delivery guys.
