The mother of Leigh Corfman, who says that Alabama Senatorial Candidate Roy Moore tried to engage in a sexual encounter with her when she was 14, has contradicted a key detail of Corfman’s story. Speaking by phone to Breitbart News on Saturday, Corfman’s mother, Nancy Wells, 71, says that her daughter did not have a phone in her bedroom during the period that Moore is reported to have allegedly called Corfman – purportedly on Confman’s bedroom phone – to arrange at least one encounter.
Moore strongly denies Corfman’s claims.
The Washington Post, which first published its newsmaking, on-the-record interview with Corfman last week, cited Corfman as remembering that she provided Moore with her number when she was 14. She said that she spoke to Moore from what she described as the phone in her bedroom.
Citing Corfman, the Post reported:
After her mother went into the courtroom, Corfman says, Moore asked her where she went to school, what she liked to do and whether he could call her sometime. She remembers giving him her number and says he called not long after. She says she talked to Moore on her phone in her bedroom, and they made plans for him to pick her up at Alcott Road and Riley Street, around the corner from her house.
Soon after, Corfman said, he called again, and picked her up again at the same spot.
Later on, Corfman described a third phone call:
She says that after their last encounter, Moore called again, but that she found an excuse to avoid seeing him. She says that at some point during or soon after her meetings with Moore, she told two friends in vague terms that she was seeing an older man.

How do you know these queasy details are not false? Don’t some people study these things and learn the pattern, to where they can use under false pretenses?
Moore cannot prove a negative, so the burden is on the accuser. Given the timing, the accusations cannot be proved or disproved before the election under traditional legal norms/processes. People in general are conditioned to want to believe that no one would ever, ever, ever make such a serious accusation against another if it were not true. But then . . .there are . . .the Rolling Stone article about fraternity rape at UVA, the Duke lacrosse case, Tawana Brawley, ... even Bill Clinton and the blue dress... I can list even more ...there was always an element of “truth” in these stories - the “victim” had some contact with the accused, i.e. they were in physical proximity at a point in time. What happened next?
AL voters are being asked to decide for whom to vote based on an accusation that cannot be proved or disproved before the election. It could have happened, it might not not have happened. We will never really know. However, unless Moore now acts in a way in response to this accusation that suggests it might have happened, or he has a history like the Clintons of being an established liar, the presumption of innocence should be defended as his, even by the free press as his defenders. The accuser had plenty of time over the last number of controversial Moore elections/issues to bring this forth. Calling her motivations and statements, background and history into question is a legitimate public interest given the potential for her decision to make a serious accusation to impact a federal election.

My comment, possibly poorly written, was meant to say that her story sounds very realistic in the details of how predators get 14 year olds alone and what they do with them in order to groom them. But hey, she could have made it up.
And I hope, if these dalliances happened when he was young and unmarried, that he stopped at his marriage.
I am very sorry for the abuse you suffered. I do think this story is being presented to evoke that scenario.
But I have to ask what are you basing your evaluation of Roy Moore’s behavior on: a single accuser is suggesting this scenario, the other girls say that they had consensual dates, their mothers were asked and they were kissed once or twice; this accuser has accused three other pastors and the accusations were proven false; the story is implausible, the girl had no phone; there is no other suggestion of impropriety in Roy Moore’s 40 year public life?
The emotional strings the left is tugging on are very powerful but the left is using them to play us for fools. In short they are spinning the story precisely to make Moore sound like a typical predator.
Let’s spin it a bit differently as I have heard other Freepers suggest. Moore was in the service and then returned & went to Law school. By the time he was finished 9 years had elapsed and his age cohort had married. Moore was a religious man and wanted to marry a similarly religious woman who had remained chaste and raise a family. He searched among the families in his town and when he thought that a young woman seemed a good fit he approached her mother to see if the family would give him permission to date them with an eye towards courting and marriage.
While this is old fashioned it is certainly not scandalous and would have been more the norm in a poorer area 35 years ago when Fathers & Mothers wanted to see their daughter married to an older man who could provide for her better than a young man just starting out. I submit that this is a much more likely scenario than the WaPo version. WaPo needed to use these details to make their fabricated 14 year old seem plausible.
I believe we all owe Roy Moore the right to presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Proof is not just a poignant story, it’s evidence. The reason stories of 40 years ago are so suspicious is that the chances of proof are so slight that an accuser is free to craft them and the accused is hard put to deny them. We must ask cui bono (who gains?) or cui prodest (who advances?) to make sense of the stories. In this case the jump onto the bandwagon from McConnell, the GOPe and the Left makes that very clear.
I agree with every word. Innocent until proven guilty. The accusers have the burden of proof.
The only evidence that makes one look askance was his lie on Friday answering Hannity. I’d like to know why he lied; did he follow an advisor? Whatever. I’d take him as my Senator over the losers I’ve got.

Was Moore just a young thirtysomething looking for a companion, or was he a predator who couldn't stop?
Why haven't we heard more about this over his entire career? Remember how Anthony Weiner couldn't stop?
Or did Moore simply stop dating once he found his mate?
I guess, to me, that's where the term "predator" stops. Yes, the dates were with teenagers and he was in his thirties. But what if they were all blondes, or if they were all children of cases that came before his bench, or some other unusual connection that may have formed a pattern but not a predation?
I used the Anthony Weiner comparison, because even after being caught, being drummed out of Congress, going to addiction rehabilitation, and supporting his wife during the biggest political campaign of her career, he still couldn't stop himself from giving in to his predations.
Can the same be said of Moore? Maybe some people will allude to "those we know about" or some vague ambiguous response intended to leave doubt in the voter's mind.
That's why it's called psyops.

Falsely accusing someone of a crime should result in the accuser receiving the penalty they the victim would have gotten.
