The allegations against Roy Moore are disgusting — and if you find yourself reluctant to say so because of your politics, then you’re pretty gross, too.
The Leigh Corfman story, reported by the Washington Post, is about so much more than just some older guy having a relationship with some younger girl. That, of course, would be bad enough — many girls haven’t even had their f***ing periods at age 14 — but this is also about a man who abuses his power to prey on the powerless. It’s about a respected district attorney finding a girl in a vulnerable position (waiting with her mother outside of a child-support hearing) and relishing in the opportunity to take advantage of it. It’s a sick story that is all too common, and one that will continue to be common if we refuse to speak out against it.
I believe that Roy Moore was a predator with a penchant for teenage girls. No, not because I’m some p***y-hat-wearing snowflake (as eloquent as that argument is) but because of logic. As my colleague David French notes, there are a lot of reasons to believe these allegations: There are multiple accusers. These women didn’t come to the press seeking attention, they simply answered the questions when the press came to them. They have witnesses corroborating their stories. Finally, the woman with the most serious allegations, Leigh Corfman, voted for Donald Trump in 2016 — making the political-hit-job storyline laughable at best.
If you think there’s no way you know anyone personally who has been through something like this; you’re wrong again, and it’s time for people on all political sides to recognize reality: These men are everywhere, so are their victims, and those victims aren’t talking points for your partisan-hack gotcha tweets. They’re people.

He was single; compare that to Bill Clinton, Jonathan Edwards, or Newt Gingrich.
She lived. Compare that to Mary Jo Kopechne or Chandra Levy.
There are now reports that the Washington Post has a reporter on tape offering $1000 for dirt on Moore; there are reports that people from an accuser's church, say she falsely accused ministers, and the court cases were dismissed with prejudice.
And pedophiles gonna pedophile.. why never a peep, through all his career, until right before now? Why no continuous pattern?

I doubt these claims, just too convenient at this time. That said, if he did these things, then... we get what we deserve.
You’re disgusting. That’s exactly what liberal defenders said about Bill Clinton’s sexual predatory acts. The women were all to blame and you know when you drag $100 bill through a trailer park, you never what you’re gonna find.
If Roy Moore was a liberal Democrat, the same people justifying his grossly immoral behavior, would be the first to condemn it. Ideology and partisan affiliation should never be used to excuse sexual predators.
Moore’s defenders are blind to what he’s done. At this point, that’s the only thing that matters here.

If they had these witnesses, why didn’t they come out when the 10 commandments case was going on?
Why now, only when he’s coming up to a special election?
To discredit the Republican and help Democrats say it isn’t just their people who are guilty.
They sure are making a John McCain like show of believing this nonsense as if to convenience other people that it is true.
They want to lose the seat, as they know it’s far too late to put anyone else or prove these allocations are anything more than the result of a fishing expedition for someone willing to make a unprovable claim.
No, um - all the Moore defenders, faced with exactly the same set of facts, would be supporting his accusers, condemning the conduct involved and demanding he drop out of the race.
I’d call that hypocrisy. Moore should be exempt from being judged and being held accountable because he’s a Republican. You’re not demanding he be treated the way you rightly would seek to have a Democrat treated due to ideology and blind partisanship.
And don’t give me the innocence presumption defense BS. If Moore was a Democrat and the set of facts was exactly the same, you’d be pronouncing him guilty and unfit to hold office. When comes to sexual predation, we have a duty to be honest.

You never really responded to #105. How were those accusers different from what is happening to Moore now? WOMEN LIE each and every day about men harassing them or raping them. That doesn't mean harassment and rape does not occur. It does way too frequently. I demand proof before I condemn a man. I demand Due Process before I condemn a man.
