Alabama’s only openly gay legislator says she’s irritated to hear fellow state officials defend Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore, who was accused Thursday of romantically pursuing minors when he was in his 30s.
“I hate to say this, but men need to shut up defending him and listen to the women's pain,” said Rep. Patricia Todd, a Democrat who Moore has dismissed in the past as a “liberal lesbian legislator.”
“The cover seems to be ‘if it is true’ and I am so disappointed in my Republican peers who continue to support him,” Todd told the Washington Examiner. “We have seen this too many times, a so-called Christian falling from that pedestal.”

For you to write that he should "own up" to what he has already categorically denied is to accuse him or lying, FRiend.

What pain? Pursuing 14 year olds is creepy but from the women’s own account her parents allowed it and there was no sexual intercourse and when she asked to be taken home Moore did not try to rape her but took her home. She at no point indicated that she was forced or even bribed to do anything. If true I don’t think he should’ve approached the girl in the first place but for her to act scarred is ridiculous. I know women who were raped and suffered real sexual abuse and this isn’t it. At worst it falls into the category of creepy but we must also realize that the age of consent in Alabama is 16.
That said I personally don’t believe these charges. Moore is the type that if he had a real problem with young women it would’ve been used to destroy him years ago. Its not like he was some wilting flower GOP loved by his opponents. Also this lady works for Democrats. Do we really think she just out of the blue decided to come forward after 40 years? If indeed it did happen she came forward not because she was scarred but simply because someone offered her financial gain to do so.
The GOP needs to stop falling for this crap and letting some unprovable allegations or out of context driven liberal outrage destroy our candidates. There were far worse allegations against Bill Clinton. There are allegations against many sitting Senators like Mark Warner for example who rumors say had a problem with sampling interns ala Clinton which is probably why he didn’t run for President.
Well, what were “those allegations”?
I think it was rape.
Fine; Moore may not have raped. Neither did King David for that matter. Bathsheba said yes to this hot king, it doesn’t look like she put up a fight.
However immorality matters too. It’s an implied issue to anyone who claims to hoist the flag of holiness. Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery (not just Thou Shalt Not Rape) is in that Ten Commandments.
