The fears escalated for Harpreet Singh Kohli under the glow of a TV screen last year, when his daughter broke down at the sight of the words strung across the screen: “TRUMP WINS 2016 ELECTION.”

Stick to the issue instead of personal attacks.

To repeat, I am much more worried about the ONE MILLION legal immigrants admitted EVERY YEAR, many of them going straight to government assistance, than a few thousand H1-B visa TEMPORARY workers causing lower wages for IT workers. I worry about ALL TAXPAYERS who are footing the burden of all these MILLIONS of legal immigrants brought in EVERY YEAR without any test of skills or wealth.

Becasue you are a self centered anti American a$$hole. We get it. You don't have to keep telling us over and over again.

It is the result of new immigrants on green card (permanent resident visa) allowed to sponsor ALL their close relatives WITHOUT any test of skills or wealth. They can sponsor brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts, parents, grand parents, grand kids, on and on.

The net effect is what is now called CHAIN MIGRATION. We have imported 30 million such immigrants in just 25 previous years.

To give you one example of a much better immigration policy. New Zealand does not allow sponsoring any relative except minor children. And to be given a resident visa, one must possess a skill needed in NZ with a job offer -or- bring US $1.5 Million dollars with them to invest in NZ. The result? Almost no immigrants on government assistance and the immigrants (mostly from east 7 south Asia) are of high quality.

She already has a job as a prosecuting attorney. No competition from H1-B visa. None, Zero, Nada. They do not have a law degree and have not passed the bar exam.

Only because the IT field has surplus of workers walking the streets in so many foreign countries, with much shorter education period, IT workers in US can not justify high wages.

We can import lawyers already accredited. We import Doctors all the time. The USA could have a huge H-1B visa quota on machine designers.

I wish more would do as you’ve done. A great story and I’m sure you’re a great addition to the country.

Thanks for that explanation———we are almost at a tipping point here, and it has GOT to stop.

If I hear,”We are a nation of immigrants.” one more time I will scream-——so is every country in North America and South Anerica, and,as you mentioned,New Zealand and Australia.

We are,essentially,committing suicide.

I am all for free market philosophy. I oppose the union philosophy of protectionism and artificially inflated wages. I lived in Chicago for 37 years and have witnessed dozens and dozens of boarded up factories, every one of them had a union.

I oppose the union philosophy of protectionism and artificially inflated wages.

Except every founding father of this great country believed in protectionism. This country thrived under protectionism.

I would not consider a transplant like you an authority on freedom or what made this country great and powerful.

As for those factories you so gleefully went past, even in when union membership peaked around 1970, only about 20% of those factory workers were in a union. 80% were non union. Now only 10% of factory workers are union workers. 90% are non union.

We are not a nation of immigrants. The first generation born in the USA is an American native, not an immigrant. Over 70% of Americans are native born.

Haha tell that to the federal judge who swore me in for citizenship back in 1970. I still recall his words that we the naturalized citizens are equal or superior to the born citizens because we worked hard to get ourselves qualified to be citizens.

You know what. FU. There is something lacking in all immigrants. Humility. Deep down there is a arrogance that I cannot stand; like the USA couldn’t have survived a clinger wanabee like you making it here. Guess what we’d have been fine without you, better off actually.

You are simply jealous of some immigrants who have surpassed you. Unless you are a native American, you are a descendant of immigrants as well.

Right. I am jealous of immigrants. Go head and think that you arrogant piece of sh!t. Most immigrants don't deserve to come to America. We have way to many of them anyway. Can I convince you to go home?

No matter how much money you make you will never be a real American. That you are born into. You can't buy that. It is an exclusive club.

You don't realize how logical your statement is. Many years ago, before Zimbabwe was still the breadbasket of southern Africa rather than its basket case, I was invited to a reception for new students where I struck up a conversation with a young man from Zimbabwe. This was probably because we were both shy and found ourselves sharing a back corner.

He told me that the country, while newly independent and still poor would send some of their best high school students to colleges abroad which seemed the best value for the money mainly to study engineering and agriculture. They depended on those graduates to come home and share what they had learned, usually as teachers or field agents.

Unfortunately, many chose to shirk that obligation and remain in the country where they had received their university education because even an average salary in North America or Europe provided a much better life than that of a trained professional in their home country.

This was back in the late 1970s before the H-1B visa racket grew into what it has become today. Their home countries, which had provided them the college education, had little recourse except to arrest them until the cost of their education was repaid if they ever returned home. You can guess how many of them did.
