I just voted in SW Virginia. Rural area, goes usually about 58-42 for the good guys (or at least the less-evil guys). More cars than usual for off year elections but no real wait inside. This was about noon. I'd guess that it was half of 2016 (Trump), and about equal to when Cuccinelli lost a very close race without any establishment help in 2013 to McAuliffe. Although the Dems have an edge in VA now, I still think it is very winnable for Republicans. My hope is that we pull out a win in a close election. For those conservatives sitting out because Gillespie is kind of gutless, I know you won't listen but it still needs to be said. You are not helping.
Only 1 precinct of 244 precincts in Fairfax county have reported so far. Sounds like what Phila and Pittsburgh do to the rest of the state. Hold back, figure how much to fudge, then report.
Candidate | Party | Votes | Pct. | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Gillespie Ed Gillespie | RepublicanRep. | 130,362 | 50.7% | |
Northam Ralph Northam | DemocratDem. | 124,047 | 48.3% | |
Hyra Clifford Hyra | LibertarianLib. | 2,677 | 1.0% |
257,086 votes, 12% reporting (296 of 2,566 precincts)

Exit polls show Gillespie winning non-college-educated whites 74 percent to 24 percent. In 2016, Trump won non-college-educated whites in Virginia 71 percent to 24 percent.
In Smith and Carroll, Ed isnt even getting Trumps numbers. Not good, and those go big time R...usually
Does the NoVA crowd (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax county) really outnumber the SoVA group (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News)? Is so, by how much?
Candidate | Party | Votes | Pct. | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Northam Ralph Northam | DemocratDem. | 192,468 | 50.4% | |
Gillespie Ed Gillespie | RepublicanRep. | 185,571 | 48.6% | |

382,143 votes, 16% reporting (411 of 2,566 precincts)

Norfolk, Hampton, and Newport News are big Dem stongholds due to the black population. Richmond as well.
“Just once, Id like to see conservative areas hold their vote totals until Fairfax reports, rather than Fairfax being the last to report with its newly found ballots.”
Same thing happens every election in Washington State...King County (ultra liberal - practically Socialist) waits until the rest of the state has reported. Then they spend the next week “finding” ballots, which, lo and behold, always turn the election at the last minute. If the rest of the state would withhold their totals until King County reported, I suspect the balance of power both locally and nationally would take a dramatic shift right!
here comes NoVa
Honestly, its Virginia..its like asking California to go Republican
Ah, the parasite class.
And, if he loses, Gillespie can point his own finger at himself. Though not in the House or Senate to vote for lax/no immigration enforcement, he has been a party man who has been in bed with all the usual Republican suspects who long for amnesty and continued mass immigration. It may come back to bite him in his own backside tonight.
Couldnt Gillespie also point his finger at Crooked McAullife, for allowing felons to vote??
If Gillespie can overcome rigged VA election obstacles, thats a YUGE referendum on Dims!!
Candidate | Party | Votes | Pct. | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Gillespie Ed Gillespie | RepublicanRep. | 230,610 | 49.8% | |
Northam Ralph Northam | DemocratDem. | 226,747 | 49.0% | |
Hyra Clifford Hyra | LibertarianLib. | 5,634 | 1.2% |
462,991 votes, 20% reporting (505 of 2,566 precincts)

That means three points of that demo aren’t voting L this round?
And of course Republican precincts are too stupid to slow-walk their reporting, in essence helping the Dem precincts figure out how many fraudulent votes they need. I don't understand why all of the strategically crafty people are libs. We never learn.
Word is Northam is running 3-4 point higher than me awe full in loudon and most nova
Stupid spell check.. McAweful
So the big populations centers, except for Virginia Beach, all go for the Democrat?
It's not surprising then, that Virginia is so liberal.
