NorVa and SoVa are like two different states. NorVa ruled by the D.C. crowd. SoVa are Christian conservatives for the most part. That’s why you get mixed results in VA elections.

Does the NoVA crowd (Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax county) really outnumber the SoVA group (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Hampton, Newport News)? Is so, by how much?

Norfolk, Hampton, and Newport News are big Dem stongholds due to the black population. Richmond as well.

As I understand it, it's Southwest and South Central Virginia that is heavily Republican and pro-Trump.

Voting in the Southeast was closer.

According to Wikipedia, about a third of Virginia's population is part of Metro Washington.

Dunno but NorVa does seem to outnumber SoVa which is why VA ends up so often with some really stupid results like apparently Gillespie’s loss.
