The dangerous cult of Donald Trump
Los Angeles Times ^ | November 6, 2017 | Reza Aslan

Posted on 11/06/2017 6:07:24 AM PST by artichokegrower

I am not the first person to point this out: There’s been a cultish quality to President Trump’s most ardent supporters. He seemed to acknowledge the phenomenon when he boasted that he could “stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody” and not lose voters.

Throughout the campaign, and in personal appearances since then, Trump has harnessed the kind of emotional intensity from his base that is more typical of a religious revival meeting than a political rally, complete with ritualized communal chants (“Lock her up!”).

Aslan has masqueraded as a moderate “reasonable” muslim or perhaps ex-muslim. I read one of his books about Jesus. Like the best propagandists, he starts reasonably enough and then slowly, but definitely veers off to the big lie.

If he weren’t so transparent and supported by the big lie leftist media, he would be dangerous. As it is, just another pajama boy leftist writer/journalist.

Alinsky 101: Accuse your enemy of that which you, yourself, are doing.

The sycophant author has only projection to spew since there were two cults in the 2016 election...

the Bernie or Hillary cults.

The cult of Bill Clinton and the cult of Obama is stunning.

Where do these pinheads think the zombie motif came from??

"he boasted that he could “stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody”

I guess I'm part of the cult, I would probably assist Trump with reloading his guns if he needed help......

“Remember when young children sang songs to bless Trump.

Yes, don’t you remember?

“Donald Trump, mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmmmm....” being sung by ghetto schoolchildren everywhere?

One of the most passionate cults of the last few years has been the affaire de coeur between the media & their domestic partner, Baraq Obama.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.

25 But while everyone was SLEEPING, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.

26 When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

It’s time to wake up America as the weeds have been sprouting and we have been asleep!!!

Yep - it is my sincerest hope to never have to aim at, much less shoot at another human being but they are pushing it until that will be the only option as they try to exterminate all who disagree with them.

Yes, dangerous to the anti-American Left and their depraved, hate-filled, decadent agenda.

I agree with the premise that there are a few, um, fanatical Trump supporters, but this part cracked me up: “If Trump’s presidency deteriorates further...”

It’s not deteriorating.

The only thing I’ve heard that kinda troubles me is when he said he’d like to see the Japanese maybe move some car manufacturing to the US. Living in Kentucky, where Toyota has a huge plant spitting out millions of cars like Camrys, he sort o exposed a major point of ignorance there.

But still...

This appears to be more of a call to keep attacking people on the right (like they have been doing).

Candidate Donald Trump was an alternative to doing thing the same way and expecting different results. Initially he was a vehicle giving voice to Americanism and also adding in some unique perspectives.

Then it became apparent he hates the press and PC as much as a large swath of the country. Nobody thinks he is perfect and many were very skeptical of him because of his brash playboy past. Many have come to see that this is a family guy who seems to have a real appreciation of America and its people.

The current meme is that he is dumb as a door knob and his supports are feeble minded, entitled, white and racist. The reality is we his supporters are from all stripes and back grounds who like where we live - know with all its warts - the United States of America is a distinctly special place.

Attacking Trump directly isn't working so now they are attacking us - trying to shame us into line. The big problem is we now know that we are not alone, we don't have to be silent, we don't have care what liberals care about, and if we want to we have the numbers to win national elections as the Electoral College gives a slight geographic advantage to the more conservative minded.

Cults by definition encourage you to not be in the company of outsiders, claim to have secret knowledge, and demand absolute adherence to the arbitrary mandates of a some charismatic leader - oh and all your money.

I don't see that and the letter that came with my MAGA hat said I'm something like supporter 884.

I'm extremely proud of what president Trump has done by convincing us we could stand up and defeat the uniparty globalists. I'm extremely relieved HRC will never be president. I'm constantly amazed about the faux conservatives that have been unmasked.

I never expected a smooth ride with president Trump and that was kind of the point he was a hand grenade we threw at the oval office. That he has been as good as he has is at being a politician is an unexpected bonus.

The author’s first name in this LA Times piece is; Reza,. Which is assigned to male Iranians. Who is using a quote directly attributed to a comment about Obama made during his first election. Which he’s now twisted and attributing to Trump in his propaganda piece.

When these propaganda pieces get posted here it’s important we review the content and direction their assertion takes. Which in this case is defending Hillary.

When counteracting and dealing with these pieces do not address their false conclusions but their intent.

It raises this question. Why would an Irainian defend Hillary ? And by publishing these remarks the LA Times has proven its editorial commitment is not in preserving the bests interests of the United States. Such as the Irainian agreements.

"...Trump has harnessed the kind of emotional intensity from his base that is more typical of a religious revival meeting than a political rally..."

I can tell without any further information, that this a$$hat has never been to a religious revival meeting (gets the flavor of what they are from novels) yet, cannot see that what liberals do in nearly every environment is far closer to his/her/its stereotype than any revival meeting could ever be.

As another poster said...classical projection.
