Reactions to the church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas have broadly consisted of sympathy and calls for prayer for the victims and their families, but some prominent left-wing voices have taken the opportunity to politicize the incident. Some on the left have used the shooting to mock the concept of prayer and Christianity.

Following the shooting, a number of prominent media personalities, celebrities and liberal pundits took the effort to mock the concept of prayer and called for gun control.
Wil Wheaton, the washed-up liberal actor best known for "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and self-proclaimed "geek icon," attacked Paul Ryan, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, who was sharing a call for prayers for the people of Sutherland Springs.
"The murdered victims were in a church. If prayers did anything, they'd still be alive, you worthless sack of shit," wrote Wheaton.

A few days ago, I looked at the 2015 U.S. homicide rates by state. Of ones like Maryland, Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama, Illinois, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, and Texas, if one were to back out the black on black homicides for Baltimore, Atlanta, New Orleans, Birmingham, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, Memphis, and Dallas, these states would likely have homicide rates comparable to Vermont, Maine, New Hampshire, North Dakota, and other states with casual firearms laws coupled with low homicide rates.

Are you serious? Think about this: If The Beast was now sitting her fat ass in the Oval Office and could nominate Federal court judges for the next eight years, I have no doubt whatever that our 2nd Amendment rights would be completely obliterated. This, more than anything else, is why we need to get patriotic Americans who do not vote to do so. These non-voters need to be made aware that countless millions of innocent people have been murdered in cold blood because they were disarmed by their own governments.

As I said on another thread, I think we should start claiming that the shooting was a result of anti-Christian hate speech by the left.

We haven’t watched TV for a long time. And we buy very few videos that are recent. Hollywood has been to us, for a long time, as the NFL is to a lot of people now. I have no more interest in any of it than I have in what the coyotes do on their own time out in the fields. These people are divorced from reality and as much like beasts as like humans. I just have no interest in them.
Well, except that I’ve taken up praying for Hollywood and the media specifically about a week ago. I don’t want them to be condemned, but for most of them salvation isn’t even a blip on their concern screen. That’s why Christians NEED to care about the total absence of justice in this nation. These people are deceived into thinking there really is no justice, and their day of reckoning is NOT going to go well. For THEIR SAKES we need to get some semblance of justice back.
