• A witness said among those who were shot in the attack was a two-year-old child
• Another witness said a man 'in full gear' walked into the church and opened fire
• Victims were transported to a local hospital and it's unclear if any are deceased

At least 16 people have been shot inside a Texas church after a gunman opened fire during the Sunday morning service.  

The shooting happened at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, where around 50 people usually attend service, according to local reports.  

Witnesses said a man 'in full gear' walked inside the church and opened fire just before 10.30am. 

Neighbors in the area said they may have heard the shooter reload multiple times. 

Another witness at the scene said a two-year-old was also shot in the attack.

According to KSAT, there were at least six helicopters called in to transport victims to the hospital. 

It's unclear if anyone was fatally wounded in the attack.

I would add, the longer this guy’s FB stays up, the less chance it was him. They tend to quickly remove the FB page of the actual bad guy before the name even gets out.

I can't reach the Texas Offender website but a buck says he's a convicted felon.

I don't have cable or even regular TV. And I haven't seen any 100% confirmed photos of him yet on the Web. I do now recall somewhere it saying that people said he (the killer) wasn't from the area.

That was actually my first thought. Then attention switched to an individual who lives in the area. Now that appears to be bad information as well. Not sure what to think at this time. We are now hours after the event and seemingly no closer to learning the identity of the shooter. Also, the FB page of the one purported to be the shooter is still up - leading me to believe that he's not the guy after all (so I won't even mention his name).

Who knows, maybe we have shooters (plural). Just don't know at this point.

It appears allegations by CBS that shooter was Chris Ward was fake news (surprise!) - see Chris Ward was (NOT) the Texas gunman, "his nephew seems to confirm that he’s is a victim & NOT the shooter". Latest yet unconfirmed reports identify the gunman as "brown", dressed in fully camo fatigues and not from the area. (Ann) "Coulter's Law" seems to be in effect here ...

We have a very large contingent of concealed carriers at our church each Sunday, as well as a uniformed off duty policeman on campus. Thank God our elders are conservative and smart and allow and even promote this. It’s insanity not to these days.
