New York magazine contributor Andrew Sullivan has a well deserved reputation as being an unhinged liberal anti-Trumper. However, unlike most leftists, Sullivan does experience brief moments of mental clarity. Such a moment occurred today when Sullivan experienced extreme foreboding about the outcome of next weeks gubernatorial election in Virginia. He fears that the Democrat stance on immigration has a good chance of leading to the defeat of Ralph Northam in How the Democrats Are Failing the Resistance:

Yes, the party needs more direct aggression and energy and left-populism.
Please take the streets and act our your aggression, calling for far left populism. I would love that.
Andrea Sullivan says Northam helped to pay for the Confederate truck ad. Andrea is very worried Gillespie is going to win.
Funny how he came to America a Thatcherite amateur rugby player and is now a left wing housewife. I’ll say it again: America was bad for Andrea.
That Northam ad showed what Democrats really think of you. Sullivan has good reason to be wary of the “immigrants” the Democrats want to bring here.
That Sullivan would welcome the unwashed hordes $$$
When you start using someone else's phrases and language unconsciously, that person has totally hypnotized you. Sweet!
Not surprising though ... Andrew follows from in front, to coin a phrase.
That is, he not totally consciously copies what he sees everyone else is doing as though he is a hypnotized mirror, then runs out in front and screams it as if it were his own idea or observation. Lame, but easy to manipulate.
Wow, that’s ironic. I came to America as a Neil Kinnock supporter and now I’m full on MAGA.
Trump has been masterful at this. I live/work in the ultra liberal SF area, and I can’t even count the times I’ve seen super-liberals using Trump’s lingo. It’s really funny.
Having lived and worked in Boston and Cambridge for twenty years, I kind of wish I could go back (only for a day!) and ruffle a few feathers like the old days. But on balance, the only thing more rewarding than debating the fake intellects is not being around them at all. They exert a hidden negativity (in addition to the not hidden negativity) on everything and everyone around them, most of all themselves. I didn't fully appreciate that unseen part until I got far away from them for a length of time.
He went native in the worst way.
Something to consider. Would be tough for me, all of my family is here, but you never know!
