Startling explosions of broken glass all over drivers and the highway they were riding on led to numerous calls to Maryland State Police Friday night.
It was just after 8 p.m. when police began fielding calls about driver’s side windows getting shot out in moving vehicles along I-270 between Rockville and Gaithersburg.
A fifth call also came in from a car that was going southbound on I-270 in the local lanes approaching the exit for Montrose Road.
Maryland State Police say that, in all, four cars and a Montgomery County Ride-On bus got hit.
The vehicles all had varying amounts of damage on the driver’s side. No one either driving or riding in the cars suffered any injuries.
Police say no actual gun was used in the incidents.
Instead, it’s believed some sort of BB or pellet gun caused all the damage.
Anyone who saw something suspicious on the highway is being asked to call Maryland State Police.
Vehicle descriptions and tag numbers in particular are being sought. Witnesses can remain anonymous.
Right now, police say there are no suspects.
The general area where the incidents took place:
Yeah, seems strange to me too. I270 is 4 main lanes with two additional access lanes and wide shoulders. That area is also in the middle of downtown Rockville, so there isn’t any wooded cover to speak of. So I’m assuming he was using a pistol, not a rifle. I’m not buying a pistol pellet gun being able to hit and explode windows of cars going 70mph+. Sounds fishy.
Side windows on cars are tempered glass
A sharp blow on the glass will cause window to shatter
Tempered glass breaks into small “pebbles”
In FD carry window punches to break out windows, a sharp
pointed tool striking window can cause glass to shatter
Take a tip from Rachel "Ain't Jemima" Dozetal and do everything in blackface. I have a feeling that you will not be targeted.
I just remember the sniper stuff from the last time... and it targeted every color/ethnicity/gender. It was not a fun time in the DMV

You can buy a spring loaded center punch at the hardware store for $5.00 or so that is the size of a pencil.
Just requires you to put the tip on the glass and press. Requires less pressure than a stapler and car tempered glass will “Craze” and fall apart.
Many Drivers keep one incase of ending up in water. Just press and shatter to escape.
So a BB or Pellet would do the same.
Or zero and the mooch looking for more attention.

Well I may be wrong because I was mistaken a few times before but maybe someone else can help out here on the Power of a modern BB/Pellet Gun. I’m pretty sure that there are some Powerful options on those type of gunz these days.

If tinted with an aftermarket film side windows “cling” to the film versus the results you mentioned ..... either or happens depending on the quality of the tinting film.
