Archaeologists have uncovered a mysterious enclosure hidden deep inside the Great Pyramid of Giza, the oldest of the seven wonders of the ancient world.
The massive cavity stretches for at least 30 metres and lies above the grand gallery, an impressive ascending corridor that connects the Queen’s chamber to the King’s in the heart of the historic monument. It is the first major structure found in the pyramid since the 19th century.
It is unclear whether the void is a chamber or a corridor, or whether it played any more than a structural role in the pyramid’s construction – such as relieving weight on the grand gallery below. But measurements show that it has similar dimensions to the grand gallery, which is nearly 50 metres long, eight metres high and more than a metre wide.

A million jokes come to mind, but it was probably a grainery, either functional or symbolic. The ancient egyptians went to great lengths to store grain in hermetically sealed chambers to protect from rodents and other pests.

The hollowing in of the sides of the Great Pyramid alters the length of the perimeter of the structure, and the amount by which it is altered was referred to as the "displacement factor" by Davidson (references).
Davidson utilized his so-called displacemant factor in interpreting the Great Pyramid as encoding all sorts of scientific data, from the exact length of the year and the precessional cycle to the dimensions and shape of the earth's orbit (more references). For Davison, the displacement factoras also important in his prophetic interpretations of the Great Pyramid: "The Great Pyramid's Displacement Factor, 286, is the Key Number to the understanding of the Great Pyramid's Prophecy." On the basis of an interpretation that the hollowing of the sides of the Great Pyramid was reflected in the final casing limestone, in September 1935 Pochan (references) introduced the concept that has seen become known as the "flash" phenomenon or effect.

The Great Pyramids sides do not run straight from one corner to the next above the base courses of masonry. Rather, they slope inward, joining at the midline in a very shallow angle -- the two planes of each "face" of the Great Pyramid meet at an angle of about 27' (about 45 deg) different from a perfectly flat plane. This slight concavity is virtually imperceptible to the human eye from ground level. It apparently transforms the pyramid into an indicator of the spring and fall equinoxes, those two singular days of the year when night and day are of equal length.
At about 6 a.m. on the equinox, the rising sun striking the Great Pyramid briefly lights the west half of the south face, while the east half is still dark. At about 6 p.m. the lighting pattern is reversed, as the cast half remains lit yet the west falls dark; then both sides fall dark. This phenomenon is sometimes referred to as the "flash" or the "flash effect". In ancient days, when the Great Pyramid's outer layer of the white limestone was intact, the flash effect must have filled the exact day of the equinox with an extrordinary brilliance.

The "Displacement Factor" is "rectified" by other measurements in the pyramid that are 286 P. inches. The sudden increase in height of the Grand Gallery, for example: 286 p. inches. It is thus called the "Rectification Factor".
One of the theories is that the Great Pyramid is a scale model of the earth. There are many right answers in all of this.
The tikkun factor of 286 will go a long way in explaining the new discovery. It'll end up being a 'concert hall' for healing or some such.
