Israeli forces struck targets near the Lebanon-Syria border on Wednesday, foreign media reported.
The Al-Mayadeen channel, closely associated with the Assad regime, reported the attack targeted a security facility in an industrial zone in a Homs suburb. They also reported Syrian forces responded with surface-to-air missiles.
The Lebanese Anshara website reported huge explosions near the villages of al-Eyn-al-Jedida, located in the eastern mountain range on the Lebanon-Syria border. Local residents reported Israeli jets circling the area prior to the explosion......

Israel does what it has to do to secure it’s future.
So they say...but that's a recent development isn't it?
The Russia haters otoh have been around for years, although they've had to adapt their rhetoric to account for Trump since he got the nomination and won the election.
More than a few of them are just gone, they don't post here anymore.
No, there's definitely a large overlap between Trump hate and Russia hate...so much in fact it's a tell.
Israel uses Iran and Hezbollah as justification for its actions in Syria militarily.
Lol. The Syrian military stopped being a conventional threat to Israel in 1984. The Bekaa valley is littered with its air force. Israel cannot allow Iranian and Hizbulla forces on its border.
So much of the anti-Russia activity is rooted in the need by the elites to keep the USA aligned with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Israel.
The Obama regime protected IRan's nuclear weapons and ICBM programs.
AIPAC is owned by the Democrat PArty. Put down the Pravda Protocols.
Russia is pouring more money into the US political system than Israel ever dreamed of.
Here is a good one for you.
“Israel does what it has to do to secure its future.”
Indeed they do, and more power to their elbow, but let us at least be honest with ourselves, Israel has quite obviously aligned itself with the extreme, Saudi-backed Sunnis in the region against Iran and Syria.
It wasn’t Iranians or Syrians who flew the jet airliners into the Twin Towers.
Isis, backed by Israel’s de facto friends in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, has attacked everybody in the Middle East and beyond, even Hamas in Gaza, but it has never attacked Israel or any Israeli target, don’t you think that odd? The most aggressive, hardline, militant, violent, brutal Islamic terrorist organisation in history has never attacked Israel.
Israel is very hard nosed about protecting its interests, that is as it should be, I salute the Israelis, it is just a pity that the US doesn’t pursue its own self-interest when it comes to Israel, why does the US feel the need to put its own interests aside in favour of those of Israel when they clearly do not match?
“More than a few of them are just gone, they don’t post here anymore.”
Maybe you are unaware but the reason you hear so few dissenting voices here on FreeRepublic these days (and why there seems to be so few posts in total on threads recently) is that the admin blacklisted hundreds of members of the forum, many of whom had been loyally posting for over 10 years, for daring to speak critically of the one of DJT’s policy decisions.
There was a mass purge, that is why you only tend to hear people agreeing with each other here now, we must toe the line or be banned now.
I have probably crossed the line through this post and will also be banned but hopefully you will get the message before I am taken out.
It’s not quite so free here as it once was.
But apparently allowed ISIS camp out near the Golan Heights for years...go figure.
Since when does "anti-Israel" automatically equal "anti-Semitism?" Is Judaism Israel, and Israel Judaism? Nobody would say that being anti-Ireland it equivalent to being Anti-Catholic, or that being anti-Russia equals anti-Orthodoxy.
I have no strong feelings about Israel, any more than I have strong feelings about any country that isn't my country, the USA. I'd be inclined to stop giving Israel billions of dollars per annum, considering that Israel is financially stable on its own and for all the wars we've fought in their backyard, they haven't done much in return for the cash and support we give them. I acknowledge that the situation in the ME is complex and messy, and Israel's endgame doesn't necessarily coincide with that of the US. Does that make me an anti-Semite somehow?
Russia is white and non-communist. Either Russia or neo-NAZIs often tend to be the villain in modern movies. Not the largest threats of China or Muslims. Democrats are using the same villains, for the same reasons.
That the message that the media and political elites shove down our throats.
Hating Jews isn’t good and neither is hating Russians.
Mr. Netanyahu talks to Mr. Putin and done so on multiple occasions in the last year while our political elites prevent a dialogue between Russia and the USA, promoting a confrontation and spreading propaganda.
Spiridon: Are you a Russian/Putin troll or just a stupid, anti-Semite all on your own?
Damned: I thought the Putin Fan Club had closed due to a lack of interest and members, but I was wrong.
Polonnium, Ahole. Don’t drink your tea without it.
Yes, the thousands of Freepers who despise thug Putin are secretly Trump haters. Dont be fooled by our posts supporting the President and encouraging him to be firm in advancing his MAGA agenda. Its all just a secret Zionist plot. /s
What kind of question is that?
If anyone here sounds "stupid" son...its you.
Now run along and let the adults in the room have a conversation.
“Will McCain visit them too?”
Sure he will, as a dark image creeping from the shadows. (reference to Ghost)
The hatred of Russia makes no sense. The protests in Ukraine that overthrew the elected pro-Russian government there were created by outside forces.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz whose article is in this post published a story back in 2014 about ex-Israeli military people fighting with those rebels in Ukraine who provoked what happened next in Crimea.
President Trump was elected seeking friendly relations with all countries many of which don’t have very “liberal” policies when it comes to political or religious freedom like Saudi Arabia and China but forces in our government keep pushing the envelope on Russia demonizing Putin.
Its deliberate and motivated by some deep seeded hatred of Russia over past things, maybe even the pogroms of the Czar against Jews well over a century ago.
Thanks. Yes, mac_truck, McGruff, and some others on this site have been diehard KGB Putin supporters and apologists for many years. Whether they're on his payroll or simply stupid, ignorant, and/or deranged enough to be doing it totally on their own doesn't really matter--the outcome is the same. Yet, they, for some mysterious (to me) reason, seem to have a free pass to do what they do, as blatantly obvious as it is: propping up and defending a longtime dangerous foe of the United States. An enemy regime who has undermined us at every turn for decades.
Donald Trump slammed President Obama Thursday on TODAY for failing to take a stronger line against President Vladimir Putin in dealing with Ukraine, saying he feared Obama would now make up for lost time with imprudent moves to "show his manhood."
The real estate mogul and reality-TV star, who has criticized Putin for sending military troops into Crimea, said Obama must now take fierce steps to prevent the situation from escalating further.
"We should definitely do sanctions and we have to show some strengths. I mean, Putin has eaten Obama's lunch, therefore our lunch, for a long period of time," Trump said. ..."

When Donald Trump and I observe that, as Ive said, in Syria, in Iran, in Ukraine, that the small and bullying leader of Russia has been stronger on the world stage than this administration, thats stating painful facts. Thats not an endorsement of Vladimir Putin thats an indictment of the weak and feckless leadership of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
PENCE: Weve just got to have American strength on the world stage. When Donald Trump becomes president of the United States, the Russians and other countries in the world will know theyre dealing with a strong American president.
PENCE: What were dealing with is the you know, theres an old proverb that says the Russian bear never dies, it just hibernates.
And the truth of the matter is, the weak and feckless foreign policy of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama has awakened an aggression in Russia that first appeared a few years ago with their move in Georgia, now their move into Crimea, now their move into the wider Middle East.

UNITED NATIONS Nikki R. Haley, the new American ambassador to the United Nations, condemned Russia on Thursday for its recent aggressive actions in eastern Ukraine.
We do want to better our relations with Russia, Ms. Haley said during her first remarks to an open briefing of the United Nations Security Council. However, the dire situation in eastern Ukraine is one that demands clear and strong condemnation of Russian actions.
She made it clear that American sanctions imposed after Russias annexation of Crimea would remain in place.
During her Senate confirmation hearing last month, Ms. Haley also expressed support for continuing the sanctions and accused Russia of committing war crimes in the Syrian conflict. But her strong criticism of the government of President Vladimir V. Putin put her at odds with President Trump, who has expressed a desire for warmer relations with the Kremlin. ...

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil -- Russia's push into Ukraine has put many on edge. But less known is that Russia is also strengthening its military links south of the Rio Grande and re-establishing itself as a power in the region.
Vladimir Putin has been strengthening military links here, and Russia is now the largest arms dealer to governments in Latin America, surpassing the United States.
Russia has even floated the possibility of building new military bases in Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua, and putting its warships permanently in the Caribbean.
In the midst of the Ukraine crisis, Russia's top diplomat Sergei Lavrov recently visited Cuba, Peru, Chile, and Nicaragua, where he announced that Russia would also pour money into the new Central American canal project. ..."

Russia agreed to provide military training for three leftist regimes in Latin America and increase military visits and exercises following a visit last week to the region by Moscow's Defense Minister Sergei Shoygu, Pentagon officials said.
Shoygu met with defense and military leaders in Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua and signed several agreements on warship visits and military training during the visit, which ran from Feb. 11 to 14. It is not clear whether any new arms deals were completed during the visit.
Defense officials said the Russian leader is seeking bases in the region for strategic bomber flights that Shoygu recently promised would include flights over the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean.
