Former Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO), a strong advocate against illegal immigration, will reportedly run for Colorado gubernatorial election in 2018.
Tancredo decided to enter the race for governor after a private poll revealed that he had a wide lead over other potential Republican candidates.
The survey also revealed that Tancredo has a statistical tie with Democratic candidate Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO).
Tancredo told Colorado Politics on Monday, I think that all of the things we need to do in the state of Colorado really require some bold leadership. It will not be easy to get some real change here, but I think I can provide that kind of leadership. Im not afraid of taking on tough issues and being bold.

Hopefully Hugh Hewitt will keep his mouth shut this time, if that is possible.
I can’t remember the details but do remember it hurt.
luv.......I moved to CO in Jan ‘72. Same thing since I came.
Libs from CA and Northeast have ruined the state.
I hope you’re right. I just see the measures that pass and how liberal the city of Denver and the ski area communities are (Vail, Aspen, Steamboat, etc) and I don’t see us prevailing but you never know. Maybe they will all stay home on election day!
I agree. I moved here in 1969 when I was in middle school. The most depressing thing for me right now is some of the representation we have in Washington- Jared Polis? Diana Degette? Michael Bennett?
We also have some deep pockets that support very liberal causes like Pat Stryker and Polis.
We're now purple (at best).
Never happen
It ain’t Colorado of the 70s anymore
A pal of mine from the western slope was just in Nashville and he and I lamented how we lost the Colorado and New Mexico of our youth
Cowboy states more like Wyoming back then
Gone
California mostly
Acid and protest rock turned to country rock and sang of Colorado to a generation and many listened and moved there
Then tech came
The the real death blow
The brown invasion ....
Should he not run because some think he's too conservative to win there? Be realistic....;-)
Buckley rule. Be realistic.
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Thanks! We sure the hell don’t need Polis.
Can he win state wide?
I really like Tom, but I don’t know if he can win a state wide race. So far I have my eye on George Brauchler.
“If he wins the nomination, I’ll certainly vote for him...but I wouldn’t expect him to win.”
If enough of us work hard enough, maybe he can.
“Buckley rule.”
If you’re speaking of William F. Buckley, when it became clear that the Hillbilly Whorehopper and Felonia von Pantsuit had killed Vince Foster, Buckley wrote that it would be better for the Republic to let them get away with it.
“Be realistic.”
The “realistic” position was that Trump couldn’t win the nomination, or the election.
Trump Rule - all other rules have less standing....
