MOSCOW Russia's foreign ministry has cited a factual error in the indictment against Paul Manafort as proof the allegations are "cooked up" and not part of a "serious investigation."
Manafort, President Donald Trump's former campaign manager, and his business associate, Rick Gates, are accused of charges including conspiracy against the U.S., money laundering, being an unregistered foreign agent and seven counts of failure to file reports of foreign bank and financial accounts.
But the spokeswoman for Russia's foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, pointed out that the 31-page indictment wrongly describes Yulia Tymoshenko as a former president of Ukraine.
In fact, Tymoshenko twice served as the country's prime minister, before being jailed in 2011 on embezzlement charges that the U.S. and others said were politically motivated.
"I liked a lot the bit that, it turns out, according to the recent findings of American enforcers, the Ukrainian president before [Viktor] Yanukovych was Yulia Tymoshenko," Zakharova told the state-owned Russia 1 television station Monday. "We did not know that, but there you go."
She suggested that the mistake undermined the rest of the indictment.
"This is a very important moment showing the way how, once again, this document had been made, cooked up," Zakharova added. "You understand when you talk about serious investigation one cannot allow things like that."
The Manafort indictment says he and Gates "lobbied multiple members of Congress and their staffs about Ukraine sanctions, the validity of Ukraine elections, and the propriety of Yanukovych's imprisoning his presidential rival, Yulia Tymoshenko (who had served as Ukraine president prior to Yanukovych)."
The indictments against Manafort and Gates say that both men generated tens of millions of dollars as a result of their lobbying work in Ukraine.

In fairness, the Millennial legal aide who drafted the indictment document probably can’t actually identify The Ukraine on a map, but the observation that the mistake reveals the level of unprofessionalism involved is correct.
Fake news is one thing. Fake indictments? The charged need to have their legal counsel move for dismissal at once.
That’s a monstrous mistake. She was a monster of an activist. Kept everyone aroused.
It’s obvious they rushed to court to get this indictment because there was talk of cutting Mueller’s budget and even of dismissing him.

Everyone knows Ukraine is between Russia and China, right? ;-)
hmmm....might just have to dismiss the whole thing then
bttt
This might put the nail in that coffin.
Is the indictment a sworn to document? If so, it demonstrates how easy it is to perjure oneself. Did Mueller sign it? Whoever did made a misrepresentation to the court. Is that actionable? Isn’t that similar to what Scooter Libby did?
That was painful to watch.
Of course in the mind of the Dem’s, any criticism of the investigation by Ivan is proof of DJT collusion.
It sounds like Bobby might have rushed these “indictments” in an attempt to keep Uranium One and the Fusion GPS out of the news. The ‘RATS started taking some serious hits in the legitimate, none fake, media.
Too bad the aide made a mistake. Look at the teen plus generation and get used to it.
Certainly hope the attornies have read this little “ mistake “.
Does anyone else see a parallel between ‘Russian Collusion’ and “The Book of Esther”?
Look at the teen plus generation and get used to it.LOL!! What grade are you in?Certainly hope the attornies have read this little mistake .
Did Hillary Clinton ever have any interactions with Ghadafi? I know this is a random question. Your post sparked a long train of thought. I can’t remember anything about that time frame except for Hillary saying We came, We saw, He died. And I remember seeing photos of Ghadafi’s dead body. But I think I must have forced myself to not think too deeply on the subject because when I do that, I tend to post things that get me in trouble. Hah.

Yes, absolutely. I’d like to see the same outcome, too.
Yeah, sixteen or so of the best-paid rat lawyers in the world and their staffs couldn’t find Google.
