With Robert Mueller unveiling his first indictments and plea deal in the Russia case, President Trump should do whats hardest for him nothing.
The indictment of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and his associate Rick Gates together with news of a plea agreement with former Trump foreign-policy advisor George Papadopoulos will generate a torrent of negative press coverage of the sort that drives Trump crazy.
His instinct to lash out is his worst enemy. Trump is at more peril from his own reaction than from any of the facts that have been uncovered by Mueller, congressional investigators or the press to this point. If he were to fire Mueller, hed endanger his presidency and perhaps over nothing.
The proverbial net, as far as we know, isnt closing in. The indictment of Manafort is about Manafort, namely his shady lobbying business. He had long crossed over into the netherworld of representing foreign malefactors and shouldnt have been allowed within 100 miles of an American election.
That he ran the Trump campaign for a crucial period in the summer of 2016 speaks to the campaigns desperation for talent at that point a disreputable hired gun that no other Republican campaign would have considered hiring brought a note of professionalism to the operation.
There is no suggestion in the indictment that any of Manaforts alleged wrongdoing, which dates back to 2006, had anything to do with the campaign. He failed to register as a foreign lobbyist for his work for Ukrainian political players, a fairly common offense among lobbyists that is usually remedied by an amended filing. He is also accused of laundering millions from his Ukrainian bounty to escape the notice of American authorities.

The 16 of the 17 primary candidates took advice from Lowry. The one who didn’t is referred to as Mr. President.
Lowry: The boy just ain’t right.
Who asked for Lowry’s advice anyway?
Pip squeek should just shut up and let Trump do what Trump does.
WINNING!
Odd, how everyone wants Trump to stop doing something. Now Lowry wants him to do nothing.
LOL! The funny part is Lowry. As an “adviser”. To a man like Trump. Now that right there is funny.
Shut up, schmuck!
Thank you, Jeff Sessions. All made possible by the gutlessness or the deviousness of Jeff Sessions. He had lunch with Trump yesterday; I hope Trump kicked his balls, if he could find any.
Trump’s biggest mistake since taking office is not firing Mueller. Mueller certianly is not independent but a partisan to the democRATS. Look no further to the the staff of lawyers he has hired, a bunch of democRAT fat cat donor thugs.
The name George Papadopoulos, will come back to haunt the administration as there is a good chance this bum has been walking around with a fed wire.
I happen to agree. At this point in time Trump should do nothing. The Dossier and Uranium one aren’t going anywhere. Continue working on your legislative agenda and keep congress focused. Once you get what is best for America, then go after Clinton and company as close to the election as possible.
Make Democrat corruption the centerpiece of the mid-terms.
I don’t read it as a nevertrump column.
Some here see conspiracy in everything.
Looks like the FBI turned Papadopolous into a mole.
