Carter Page, former foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign, said he might have been included in emails with George Papadopoulos, another campaign foreign policy adviser, regarding Russia.
MSNBC host Chris Hayes pressed Page Monday night if Page remembered Papadopoulos telling people Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to set up a meeting and that he was approached about Hillary Clintons emails.
I know nothing about e-mails, Page said. Definitely nothing. I heard nothing about that.
A direct question on this particular thing, Hayes said. Do you remember Papadopoulos emailing about this stuff?
There were tons of emails happening on a lot of different things, Page responded. I could have been on them. I might have been.
Page said there were thousands of emails shared during the campaign, but he had not heard anything regarding hacking Clintons emails.
Page also said he may have been part of emails chains concerning Russia.
It may have come up time and time again, there is nothing major, Page said.
Papadopoulos pleaded guilty to misleading FBI agents concerning his contacts with Russians during a January interview.
Manafort, Trumps former campaign chairman, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Monday on 12 charges, along with his associate Rick Gates, as part of special counsel Robert Muellers investigation to determine if the Trump campaign colluded with Russia during the 2016 election.
Manafort pleaded not guilty to all 12 counts on Monday at a federal courthouse hearing. He is under house arrest and his passport has been confiscated.
Sheesh.doesn’t he have a lawyer to tell him to just shut up
There’s nothing here. The story is written to make it look like the news is bad for Trump. In reality there was no crime or collusion with Papaapldopis or whatever and Manafort and Gates are in trouble for what they did while connected with Clinton and the Podestas.
Stop the pearl clutching. His point is you get CC, BCC, direct emailed thousands of times a day if you are important. You really think you remember all of them? I don’t have to worry about political emails, I worry about a niche segment of one industry in the US and I have trouble remembering them all in their entirety all the time.
I get what he’s saying. He’s saying this Papadopoulos character may have been on an email he was included in but he doesn’t recall. There was never anything important enough involving Papadopoulos or Russia for him to recall. In other words, the Russia collusion thing is a big nothing-burger.
I can tell you that a good lawyer would not advocate for that interview
He either has immunity or is incredibly stupid
Either you were or you weren’t, Carter.
Which is it?
Oh, and why have we never heard of you before this?
He said he was cooperating like GP..which if true..he is stupid yet again for announcing it..but i suspect that isnt what he meant
For every single one of you that believes this is okay...I will tell you that you should keep your mouth shut if ever involved in an investigation. Talk through your lawyer
Just saw where page does not have a lawyer. Sad..but get smart and shut up
Gates is having to use a public defender which is not good
Compare this with their total lack of curiosity over Clinton’s emails or the Clinton Foundation or anything democrat. They have no objectivity at all and it’s there for the whole world to see.
And they call themselves objective journalists. LOL.
Good point.
First real question is: Why the F is anyone EVER talking to the FBI?!
If I was the POTUS I would let it be known that NO ONE in my organization would even state their name to the FBI much less freely give information.
I tell my wife, my children, my friends and everyone else the same thing: You do not talk to the police! Even more important YOU NEVER TALK TO THE FBI, not alone, not with a lawyer, not with immunity, not EVER! They are not to be trusted, ever!
Ask Martha Stewart about what the FBI is like and whether they are truth agents or just lyers looking to get you with a process crime.
“Stop the pearl clutching”.
Giving advice isn’t pearl clutching.
OK you guys, I’m doing this.. Remember Pop-a-top? I’m shortening Papadopoulos to “Papadop”. Can’t deal with Papadopoulos, either.
Behold the conflation. This Papadapolus guy plead guilty to being untruthful to FBI agents. Yet now it’s, “plead guilty to colluding with Russia.”
Good grief, the guy was a volunteer who sent e-mails wherein the suggestions therein were rejected.
