The GOP establishment is rallying around a new frontrunner to replace Jeff Flake

Republican Rep. Martha McSally of Arizona is emerging as the GOP establishment's favorite to replace retiring Sen. Jeff Flake.

But McSally could run into trouble in a possible run against Republican opponents including former state Sen. Kelli Ward — who is backed by former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and pro-President Donald Trump media — for past comments critical of Trump.

US News and World Report reported Thursday that McSally was taking steps toward launching a campaign for Flake's seat, as she indicated interest in the vacancy during a closed-door meeting with the rest of Arizona's GOP House delegation. The news came after three of Arizona's other GOP congressmen — Reps. Trent Franks, Paul Gosar, and David Schweikert — ruled out runs for Flake's seat.

GOP sources told the outlet that McSally has become the consensus candidate of lawmakers and donors, with one congressional aide saying she's expected to run.

You have a problem with Dr. Kelly Ward?

I don't know enough about her. But I would assume Trump knows who he would prefer to work with in the Senate.

And it's 'Kelli' not 'Kelly'.

Oh come on. The tide has turned. No establishment candidate is going to win. ANY Mitch McConnell connection for a candidate is the kiss of death.

That’s right! Mitch’s millions didn’t help Luther Strange in Alabama.

Trump preferred Ward to Flake when only these two were the primary candidates. I don’t know if he prefers someone else over Ward if someone else steps in.

Can anyone out there tell us where Ward stands on the issues? Taxes? Immigration? Gun rights? Trade. Foreign policy? We need to know more than who likes her.

Her track record is a conservative one on immigration, clearly against open borders John McCain. She ran against him in the 2016 primary for US Senate.

Besides opposing McCain’s open borders cheap labor policy, Ward also opposed McCain’s support for jihadists in Syria.
Ward also says “Build the Wall” in one of her most recent tweets.

But its probably best that you go to her site and everyone can go there and read for yourselves.

I would prefer Trump stay out of the primary completely to avoid another Luther Strange-like mistake.

What I have found is a little confusing. When she ran against McCain she sounded like a RINO, in fact she was accused of using a Romney campaign ad without his permission. She was pretty wishy washy on conservative issues, sounded like McCain. I have heard some say she didn’t do better because she sounded just like McCain on the major issues.

Now she sounds like she is conservative as can be, agrees with Trump on everything. I have checked her out on border issues, she says secure the border, no amnesty, no social programs for illegals already here. That sounds good.

I would like to know more about her myself. I have friends that she represented in the AZ State Legislature; they love her and are supporting her 100%, donating and working for her.

She has changed on some of the issues, she did support abortion, said it should be between a woman and her doctor. Now she is said to be Pro Life.

I hope to find out more.

The state of Arizona does NOT need any more politicians named Mc - Anything!!!

Here is another example of donors being fleeced out of their money & support to put another puppet into place who will never do 1% of what they are campaigning on.

Any Republican who has said anything negative about Trump cannot survive a primary challenge.

It’s an axiom you can take to the bank.

From the article:

” “If the McConnell establishment runs another ‘Never Trumper’ in Arizona like Martha McSally, expect the full weight of the president’s America First movement to come down upon her like a ton of bricks,” Andy Surabian, an adviser to the Trump-aligned Great America Alliance and a close Bannon adviser, told US News.

Several influential conservative groups, including the Club for Growth and FreedomWorks, said Friday they would oppose a McSally run. “

That tells you all you need to know.

She will have a sudden change of heart.

I’d like all the outside money and influence to stay out of the race and let Arizonans decide for themselves.

Wouldn’t that be a nice Constitutional change of pace for our elective process.

McSally won’t have a chance as a NeverTrumper. Nobody in Arizona is going to put up with a new Jeff Flake in drag.

The Establishment supporters of St Jeffy had already raised a lot of money for him ($4.3 million). What Jeffy got for it was an 18 percent approval rating and losing to Kelli Ward by 25 plus percent.

When I hear (Evangelical Protestant)Christian radio, the news coverage is generally pro-establishment globalist. The foreign policy coverage tends to be ultra-neocon and very much pushing the government line.

A bisexual blond with a large bust called ‘cinema’ will have an easy time winning in CA. In AZ, not so sure.
