Speaking to University of Chicago students at the universitys Institute of Politics, Perez said, I would welcome that because sometimes I hear people say we dont have a bench of presidential candidates, and I could not disagree with that more.
Perez didnt identify any candidates he expected to run, though former Vice President Joe Biden, U.S. Sens. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker, and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan have all been rumored to be considering a 2020 run. The Republicans in 2016 had 17 candidates, forcing underperforming candidates off the main stage and into a second-tier debate. A double-digit Democratic field would be a significant increase on the half-dozen Democrats who ran in 2016.
I think that debate (would be) spectacular, Perez said. My job is to make sure the playing field is level.

It’s going to be a Looney Tune show with Trump pointing out the clowns.
Democrats don’t respirate oxygen.
With triple-digit ages and single digit IQs
Kamala Harris was born to an Indian national and a Jamaican national, she is not a natural born citizen.
She was born an Indian, Jamaican, America.
...Won’t they be incapacitated..
They will be more incapacitated by decreasing voter registrations and the numerous investigations of democrat wrongdoing. None of this, especially the Russian boomerang, is building the democrat voter base.
Indian, Jamaican, American.
No matter who the Dems' field, they will all share the same ideology and appeal to a narrow swath of voters who will vote for whoever wins the Dem nomination anyway.
Do you know how many people die every year and start voting Democrat?
A real freak show.
What a joke.
These people can’t even tell what’s going to happen next week, but they can make headlines by telling what’s going to happen in three years.
That ship sailed long ago
The double-digit field is their way of trying to eliminate the upstarts. First, they place ringers at the various ideological poles to attract the fervent followers. That serves to eliminate the lesser pragmatic candidates. Then, they torpedo the ringer, with or without his cooperation (remember how Bernie just seemed to fold one day and we concluded he was bought off). If an upstart gets strong, they decide what losers to eliminate and everyone gangs up on the upstart.
Perez, a Hillary stooge, is working on the assumption that Hillary will have an uphill battle in 2020. Divide and conquer (with a double-digit field) is her only hope.
It makes it even more miraculous that Trump was able to survive such a bruising ordeal in 2016. But Republican voters decided not to have any of the establishment antics.
Those things are only problems for Republicans.
LOL, excellent. Let them deal with it.
That was a disaster for us.
When you have to 14 people on a stage, each one gets hardly any time to reveal themselves.
Get 5-7 top contenders by the beginning of 2020, and move on from there. We’ll have one. Anyone on our side thinking Trump is vulnerable, would have just disqualified themselves as having the brains necessary to run for president.
I hope the Democrats have 45 contenders. Remember, “...the more the better...”. Not!
...
But where are the clowns? Send in the clowns
Don’t bother they’re here
...
Perez didnt identify any candidates he expected to run
2009 wasn’t that long ago.
Barry Soetoro is all the proof anyone should need that the founders were right to restrict that office to citizens who were born here of citizen parents with no foreign ties.
We should not abandon parts of the Constitution because they are inconvenient.
Because the Dims are all about a “level playing field”, right?
Ask Bernie’s opinion.
