Washington (CNN) A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter. The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge.
Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said.
It is unclear what the charges are. A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.
Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.
On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation.
Reporters present saw a flurry of activity at the grand jury room, but officials made no announcements.

Mueller is authorized to investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to Rosenstein's order.
The special counsel's investigation has focused on potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as obstruction of justice by the President, who might have tried to impede the investigation.
CNN reported that investigators are scrutinizing Trump and his associates' financial ties to Russia. Mueller's team has also examined foreign lobbying conducted by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and others. His team has issued subpoenas for documents and testimony to a handful of figures...

Makes sense..Tucker Carlsen said on his show on Tuesday that Paul Manafort worked with the Podestas(Maybe somehow connected to Uranium One) and that the media has been focusing on the WRONG collusion..but that Manafort and Podesta brothers are the real target here
is NBC news reporting it or is it “according to reports”?
“...for not registering as a foreign agent...”
Absolutely amazing.
IMHO
Only Congress can issue an indictment on a sitting President.
There are probably a few people here that dont know a person who has already flipped could be indicted on Monday...depends on agreement
If flynn flipped they could get kushner
If manafort flipped he has the goods on a lot of people
Mueller is far from done. Incredibly complex Investigations
Weissman sighting could mean someone involved with manafort...
Or Sater..a pro flipper. And buddy of michael cohen
Possibility..would podestas have flipped yet? Dont think so...but manafort could have..
Or Mueller could indict Manafort for some shady condo/real estate deal, leave it at that, then slink off into the sunset.
I’ll think something’s really happening when the futures markets go whacko.
That is also a possibility.
My wild guess is that more than one person goes down..and more than one flips. Being indicted is not a sign the person didnt flip.
Where it ends I have no wild guess
I have said all along that this isnt just about trump
It may never touch him.
Likely Manifort and one other. Won’t be Podestas if reports are true that Mueller started on them on Monday Oct 23. Not nearly enough time to assemble a case and present to grand jury.

Mueller’s Office of the Special Counsel will make public an indictment on Monday, a U.S. official with firsthand knowledge of the process confirmed to NBC News, without disclosing the name of the target or the nature of the charges. The timing was confirmed by a second source familiar with the matter.
That scott dworkin guys says former fbi thinks its kushner. Seems too soon and too high up
Agreed!
Flynn and manafort lawyers think its not them
Kushner or carter page???
If they dare, Ivanka will have a fit, do the "Oh Daddy" routine, get Trump roaring mad, he'll have a hissy fit tweet storm and say God knows what. Then they'll use it to push the 25th Amendment crap again. Hope he's mentally prepared to be cool as a cucumber.
“Can he indict himself”
One of the first people to be indicted should be Mueller
That’s my post here:

Grate minds love cheeze
“How dare these CRIMINALS AND PERVERTS try to overthrow the elected President and subvert the will of those who put him in office.”
You got some flak, months ago, for saying Trump should go ‘full Pinochet’ on these traitorous aholes...
That maybe the only way America survives without all out gun play.
You know, its funny how Meuller could come up with an indictment in less than six months, but Sessions couldnt do the same in nearly a year...
Anyone heard from Hilliary lately?
Julian Assange.....
This is a war against a deeply entrenched DOMESTIC ENEMY APPARATCHIK in DC with allies in the Press and about a dozen State Governments.
The only viable option if the intent is to WIN is a military one.
Declare a State of Emergency, disband Congress and the Courts, abolish all domestic and foreign intelligence agencies, replace with LOYALISTS operating under DHS authority, and TAKE OUT THE TRASH.
Most of the people and most of the States will back this one hundred percent.
The party in DC will be over.
