Washington (CNN) A federal grand jury in Washington, DC, on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter. The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge.
Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said.
It is unclear what the charges are. A spokesman for the special counsel's office declined to comment.
Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Under the regulations governing special counsel investigations, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who has oversight over the Russia investigation, would have been made aware of any charges before they were taken before the grand jury for approval, according to people familiar with the matter.
On Friday, top lawyers who are helping to lead the Mueller probe, including veteran prosecutor Andrew Weissmann, were seen entering the court room at the DC federal court where the grand jury meets to hear testimony in the Russia investigation.
Reporters present saw a flurry of activity at the grand jury room, but officials made no announcements.

Mueller is authorized to investigate "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation," according to Rosenstein's order.
The special counsel's investigation has focused on potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, as well as obstruction of justice by the President, who might have tried to impede the investigation.
CNN reported that investigators are scrutinizing Trump and his associates' financial ties to Russia. Mueller's team has also examined foreign lobbying conducted by former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and others. His team has issued subpoenas for documents and testimony to a handful of figures...

If Carlson’s source is real—he seems to have a lot of confidence in him and has verified parts of his story—then it will be Manafort and the Podesta brothers being indicted, or Manafort first followed by Podesta, because the Mueller probe is into Uranium One.
I don’t know....just repeating what he said...
but I did see on Fox that the WH thinks the Russian thing is behind them or something like that today ..........

Hey it could be like Rachel Madcow’s Trump Tax Return big scoop.
I don’t believe it will be Manafort...His investigation doesn’t relate much to the Trump campaign...I’m guessing it will someone much closer to President Trump...Someone the MSM will go nuts over...Drown out any news about Clinton and Russia...Maybe Trump Jr...
I agree. Default answer is: fake. No indictments at this time.
Someone on 4Chan a few days ago said that Hillary Clinton would be arrested on October 30th..I really really doubt that Clinton will be arrested..after all she is a Clinton, they can do ANYTHING and get away with it..she won’t go to jail unfortunately..but if she does I will eat my shoe
I hate to admit I don't know this, but what's Boente's story?
Thanks.
Rosenstein has been working for Trump all along. I bet he has an immunity deal
Two things
1) DOJ feels so good about that case, they started a coordinated rollout of the evidence to The Hill last week.
2) Also, Rosenstein would have to be informed prior to charges. Sanders seemed confident this week about the case wrapping up
That is AWESOME!
Oh, heavens I hope so.
Mueller has to make a move to legitimize his investigation. I suspect with the rising calls for him to step aside because of his involvement, he will go after Manafort (even though he was working for the dems). Don’t know who else, but maybe someone to make it look impartial.
Trump Jr can meet some Russian chick in a hotel for “opposition research” and they call that treason yet Hillary Clinton and the Dems can pay big bucks for a fake Dossier from RUSSIA and thats not a big deal??
I don’t know anything more than my quick search and Wikipedia. I had recollections of what transpired earlier in the year when President Trump fired another US Attorney and made Boente acting AG, I think. There are far more knowledgeable FReepers on this subject.
LOL, that was downright hilarious! Thanks for the smile and laugh.
Is Mueller scrambling?
FWIW:

With the resignation of Dana Boente on Friday as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, President Donald Trump has an opportunity to replace another Obama-era holdover in the Department of Justice line of succession. If Trump demands that the department fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller, and if enough officials resign or get fired rather than carry out his order, the decision to do so could fall to Boentes successor.
