Dallas owner says he has heard from concerned sponsors
The Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who this month said he would bench any of his players who disrespect the flag during the national anthem, says that the protest movement is damaging the NFL.
This season dozens of NFL players have knelt during the anthem to highlight racial injustice in the United States. The movement has split the nation, with many perceiving it as disrespectful to military veterans. The NFLs television ratings are also down, although it is not clear whether this is directly linked to the protests, as TV sports audiences have fallen across America.
There is no question the league is suffering negative effects from these protests, Jones said on Sunday.
Joness Cowboys are valued at around $5bn, and he said he had heard from concerned sponsors. Our ability to be substantive is based on having a strong NFL, a league that people are really interested in and want to watch and want to watch the games, Jones said. At all times, if I am anything, I am first and foremost a proponent of making the NFL strong. Making us have as many people watching the game as we can and watching in light of what we are doing and thats playing football. If all this makes you stronger to represent messages, lets dont do it in a way that tears down the strength of the NFL.

Re:”The NFL hates America and America noticed.
Now the feeling is mutual.
There is nothing they can do now to repair their image.”
That is worth repeating. Over and over. The first two lines should be printed on t-shirts.
He was for taking the knee before he was against it.
Perhaps because he is changing his politics to suit his pocketbook.

The He** with these overpaid, anti-American losers. Never again football league can KMA.
Jerry, theres no need to sound crazy about this.
We are trying to bankrupt every team, and with stupid people like you out there, you are merely dragging this on longer than it needs to go.
We want every team to be bankrupt.
Apparently the only genius in the NFL.
It’s more than the kneeling. It’s their wholesale embrace of thug culture. All the long hair hanging out of the helmets, the retarded NFL guitar playing robots, the constant commercials, the attempt at extravaganza at every game. Chicks on the sideline who have never played analyzing. And overexposure that has lead to unpredictability. Commercials about being a homo and a tranny delivered by some musclehead wanna be tough guy telling us being an American means accepting perversion.
College ball is meant for Saturday.
Pro ball is on Sunday and Monday night. (except Monday night is all on ESPN now)
Oh, and ESPN giving us their finger wagging assaholic lectures about every social issue.
They finally got too far away from us. In the past, you could imagine most football players would be fun to have a beer with. It might not have been true, but they made it seem like it was.
Today, they mostly seem like ignorant illiterate people you’d want to avoid.
The children can then go get a real job.
One would anticipate HOLLYWOOD is watching closely the tide of this debate. They aren’t doing so hot at the moment either.
WE ARE WINNING, and heading off to bed realizing that fact ALMOST dissipates the nightmares the prior administration gave US every evening as they stood in our HALLOWED HALLS of DC
But he linked arms with the players and took a knee a fornight ago.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty stupid but they did it before the anthem. They stood for the anthem. I think they were trying to show team unity but it was foolish.
I believe Jerry is trying to do right but he doesn’t know how to handle a bunch of brain dead clowns.
Besides, standing with linked arms prevents holding the helmet in the left arm while placing the right hand over the heart as per the NFL rule book.
Good point. So much around, in, and about football isn’t even football. You have to put up with all of that to even see the game being played. Then the players took a simple observance of the great nation they play in and trampled all over it. And the team owners took sides with them and alienated a huge swath of their audience.
Good job, NFL. You’ve gone all-in to take football out of football.
I am with you. I will not be watching any NFL games.
I am sure Jerry would would have preferred these small minded clowns have never exposed themselves to be the POS that they are.
I wish the NBA had started a month earlier so they too could have been massively hurt. But they had time to learn from the NFL morons, and toned it down.
By kneeling himself?
Not relevant. The whole taking a knee thing is over a lie.
Something is happening here, but you dont know what it is do you, Mr. Jones?
Today, they were wearing pink shoes.
