When the first half of the 21st century is way back enough for a history to be written unencumbered by agenda, President Barack Obama will be remembered as the worst thing that ever happened to the Democrat Party. And to the NFL.*
If you think that is a stretch, hear me out Thanks to George W. Bushs terrible second term, two unbelievably awful Republican opponents in John McCain and Mitt Romney, not to mention the charisma and impressive political skills as the most leftwing senator in the country, Barry O won two national elections and did so by impressive margins.
The problem is that Americas so-called Smart People misread these victories. And by Smart People, I am, of course, sarcastically referring to Democrats, the imbecilic Republican establishment, and the corrupt national media all of whom deluded themselves into believing that Obamas victory meant that the country had not just moved to the left, but to the far left. Buoyed by this mistaken belief, not only did the Democrat Party move to the far-left (Warren, Bernie, Hillary 7.0, etc), so did the media. Over Obamas eight years, among others, the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and MSNBC believed they were capturing a zeitgeist by hiring tons of rabid leftwing propagandists, a freak show that includes Ana Navarro, Philip Bump, Jake Tapper, Chris Cillizza, Jemele Harris, Chris Cuomo, Al Sharpton, Rachel Maddow, Joy Reid ESPN was so sure of this, it went from a rock n roll sports network to MSESPN.
What no one wanted to acknowledge, though, is that almost immediately after Obamas 2009 inauguration, voters began a major course correction...Democrats just nine months later in the 2010 midterms this should have told the so-called Smart People that Obama was an anomaly, not a trend.

Rather than come to terms with the reality of an America that looks like this, they would prefer to see it all burn down.
Rush claims the left’s agenda is to destroy the NFL, and that’s why things are happening this way. I think he’s wrong.
F the nfl—
haven’t watched but maybe 10 minutes, and that’s because it was on in a restaurant I was in. Even then I didn’t want to look at it.
H3ll with them...overgrown, overpaid, ignorant children..
Rush is way wrong. The NFL is being destroyed because the majority of fans are finally coming to terms with the fact that the majority of players hate their guts.
Precisely, the anthem was merely the final straw.
It’s patently obvious that the NFL has been a major means for propagating leftist ideology.
Without a functioning NFL, they lose this means.
You don’t spit in the fans faces and have fans left.
Well, that's it. I'm apparently an incorrigible racist, and don't deserve to be able to watch NFL players perform unless I am willing to sit through a weekly pre-game lecture on my wickedness.
OK, then...bye. :)
“Rush claims the lefts agenda is to destroy the NFL, and thats why things are happening this way. I think hes wrong.”
The lefts agenda is to destroy everything that brings us together.
Ditto for the whole entertainment industry.
Roger Goodell>>
Makes 26 million a year
Is the son of liberal Republican Senator Charles Goodell from NY.
In office: September 10, 1968 January 3, 1971
Appointed by Nelson Rockefeller

Instead, we get gal referees, doing commentary, even those pink ribbons last year. These are issues of the liberal left women's agenda. They're never going to like football. They have a real problem with guys doing guy things.
Next step, make the NFL more tolerant of diversity, less violent, more gal-friendly. Result....Goodell alienated those who liked NFL football just the way it was but will never win over those who will never like football, if it even resembles the game.
Add to that this year's fiasco. Race was never an issue in the NFL before. Now it is. The rules don't apply to blacks and confidence is waning that all of the black players hold white players in the same high regard as they hold "brothers".
As I type this, I can't believe nobody said "enough" before it got out of control. Now, it does seem that the inmates are running the asylum they were enabled to create.
Possibly the time is ripe for a new professional football league to compete against the NFL?
That means they want to keep the NFL going strong.
Because for the past two decades or so it has been morphed into something that divides us.
“Rush is way wrong. The NFL is being destroyed because the majority of fans are finally coming to terms with the fact that the majority of players hate their guts.”
Perhaps, but we probably could have lived with it. After all, people on our side spend billions watching Hollywood movies, even though the ‘talent’ never skips a chance to remind us of just how much we’re hated.
The difference is this time is that they BROUGHT IT ON THE FIELD. To continue with my Hollywood analogy, it would be like watching a high-quality action movie - and then, right in the middle of it, the actors all turn towards the camera and tell us how much Trump sucks, then they get back to the movie, chasing, fighting, and shooting each other.
...and, as bad as that was, the producers, rather than fire the actors and cut out that part, LEAVE IT IN, and in some cases, JOIN THEM in the next movie, and tell their audience to suck it up, if they don’t like it.
In the cases where they are in our face, such as late-night television - they’ve already written us off, so it doesn’t affect them - but they do lose a lot of potential upside. Football is different, as likely 2/3’s of their market are people who support America...so it will REALLY HURT them.
There’s nothing sad about it. A dominant industry destroys its brand and throws away its future through its own missteps. It happens all the time.
The NFL has slowly priced itself out of reach for its own fan base. The national anthem “controversy” just gave these fans a reason to walk away on principle.
This column is about much more than Goodell and the NFL and it is right on target.
Nothing is forever.
There are two extreme cases that come to mind immediately:
Sears. The original "online" order store. The catalog had everything, and was the source of millions of Christmas wish lists. They even had dedicated pickup locations for their mail-orders. All they had to do was build a decent website, and we would have never heard of Amazon. Instead, they are just a chapter in retail history.
Kodak. Once a Dow Jones hero, it ended up a pink sheet zero. They invented the digital camera, and then spiked the product like the NY Times spikes stories about Dems. Hey, don't want to mess with our core product - film. Could have remained the leader of worldwide picture taking, instead, shrunk to the size of a Photomat booth before they disappeared like pictures on undeveloped film exposed to light.
I'm sure others can add many more, but these two stick out as catastrophic business failures.
