Steve Bannon warned Friday evening that California might pose a "problem" to the U.S. by attempting to secede.
Couching his statement on California's status as a "sanctuary state," Bannon, President Trump's former chief strategist, contended that California's Democrats and "the lords of Silicon Valley" would attempt to flee like states did in the run-up to the Civil War if the policy isn't turned around.
"You are a sanctuary state," he told a crowd in Anaheim at the California Republican Party convention. "If you do not roll this back, 10 or 15 years from now the folks in Silicon Valley and progressive Democrats are going to try to secede from the union."
The issue of secession was settled 150 years ago, Bannon contended, adding, "And it's going to be a ... problem here in California."
California became a "sanctuary state" earlier this month, after Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill on that prevents law enforcement officers from "asking about immigration status during routine interactions," defying the Trump administration.
During his speech, Bannon touted "economic nationalism," contending that people who " "are working two jobs" "got screwed" while those profiting in Silicon Valley "think they get a special deal" by getting "all the benefits of a free society," according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
He blamed China for gaming the system in favor of "Silicon Valley, Wall Street, Hollywood and Washington, D.C."
Bannon, who is back at Breitbart News as executive chairman, also condemned former President George W. Bush, who just one day prior delivered speech widely seen as an implicit rebuke of Trump.
"There has not been a more destructive presidency than George Bush's," Bannon said.
Part of it will. The conservative counties will tell Kali to take a hike.
one can hope
Good. They can take their EVs with them. And Pelosi. And wei stein
Well.........bye.
We make a deal with them - they take ALL the illegals and any blacks who feel ‘put upon’ living here... Also the new country of California has to pay half for building a Wall... ‘
Bannon’s message to GWB:
“Get back under your rock and stay there, if this is all you’re good for!”
And treat them just like the South was treated!
Invade arrest the organizers for treason.
Put it back into territorial status under a military governor. Govern under martial law, enforce US immigration law, void the state employee’s union contracts, teacher’s union contracts, the prison guard union’s contracts. (Tell the prison guards if they don’t report to work under federal military supervision, they join the prison population!). I think that’s a good start!
Break the state into at least 3 states.
“Steve Bannon warned Friday evening that California might pose a “problem” to the U.S. by attempting to secede.”
I guess most of us struggle with the writer’s use of the word “warned”.
911 would have been the time to start enforcing our immigration laws.
Instead Bush attacked a country that had nothing to do with 911 and destabilized the middle east.
He also went petal to the metal on keeping the borders open.
Not too long ago California was a moderate state, now it is deep blue.
It really is Bush’s fault.
What a awful President he turned out to be.
Never settled judicially in the US.
Good. The libs can finally take off for Canuckistan or Mehsheeico, as they always threaten to do, but never do.
But California is American clay. It stays, along with its patriots.
Why?
The CW was pretty high up on the list of asinine.
Just let them go. No sense wasting lives, money and angst over a natural right.
Caule-forne [Aunt Pearl, Beverly Hillbillies] ain’t goin’ anywhere.
Dems have too many California Dems in the US House Representatives. If they lost the California delegation, the Republicans would have a significant increase the number of Representatives needed to attain the 50%+1 threshold.
Talk of secession is bluster.
Answer to our prayers.
If they must, so be it. Build the wall around them, cut off their imported water and power and tell them if they want it back to meet to discuss treaty terms.
I’ve been posting this for a while. It won’t be just CA either. Jerry Brown is not who you think he is.
He has formed a “Coalition of States” under the guise of Climate Change. HI, NY, VA, WA, OR, MA and RI are current members.
In June Gov Jerry Brown visited China in response to the US leaving the Paris Accord.
While in China, he was named Special adviser for states and regions at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the same week PDJT gave his famous speech.
When he returned he announced CA had entered into a trade agreement with China to grant them access to all of our Green technology.
Since Silicon Valley is our technology center. Theres a strong possibility all the tech giants are compromised. This includes all online social networks.
He also announced the he would seek to form a Coalition of States to combat climate change.
On 31 Aug, Brown announced be was going to Russia to meet Putin and other invited nations to discuss climate change.
ON THE SAME DAY the US immediately closed the Russian consulate in San Fran. This forced Brown to travel to Alaska to get his Visa stamp.
He traveled to Vladivostok, Russia, a city along the Sea of Japan near the countrys borders with China and North Korea, for the two-day Eastern Economic Forum. (How convienent)
He then met John Kerry at Harvard then traveled to N.Y. to address the UN about climate change as the States special envoy. He then traveled to the EU under the same guise.
Since his return, he has turn CA into a sanctuary state, decriminialized violent felonies, enacted no bail arrests and removed the law that identified people who have AIDS.
Man that would make for a loooong border wall......but it would totally be worth it!
Won’t happen. Fought a civil war over that.
