Initial jobless claims, a way to measure layoffs, sank by 22,000 to 222,000 in the week ended Oct. 14. Thats the lowest figure since March 1973 and well below the 244,000 MarketWatch forecast.
The more stable monthly average of claims declined by 9,500 to 248,250, though it remains somewhat elevated because of the recent hurricanes.

WINNING!.........................
I know several people that are out of work and still unable to find anything suitable in their line of work.
I know several people that are out of work and still unable to find anything suitable in their line of work.
Trumps fault !
+ ‘
But... but... it’s still 0bama’s economy!
/super sarcasm
There are millions of Americans out of work.
This is also going to get worse, as people begin losing jobs to actual automation.
This is a BIG problem, and about to get much worse. America has sent FAR too much production to China.
For real.
You realize this was a positive article and reflection on Trump, right?
Trump is bringing manufacturing back to the USA!
Trump needs to bring back American production.
The entire GOP (as well as lots, and lots of Democrats) have been offshoring American jobs for the entire last generation.
Trump made noises about this during the campaign, but has NOT done what he promised to fix this.
(not yet)
Too many people don’t want a job.
From the perspective of many losers, work steals your dignity . Pathetic .
Trying to put a negative spin on it by using the word slump... LOL
Trump is destroying the economy!!!
When was the last time you bought (anything) but food or gasoline?
Think about that time.
Odds are that product, was made in China.
EVERYTHING was made in China now. Not literally everything of course, but every single year for the last entire generation, our balance of trade with China has gotten ever worse.
Trump is the first guy, who even looks at that.
He needs to stop looking, and start addressing the issue.
They may have to become a bit more flexible.
I'm of the mind of "take what you can and keep looking".
Oh sorry.
And cars. Cars sold in America are NOT made in China.
Although China now makes many more Autos, than we do. Many. Because unlike America, the Chinese have insisted anyone selling them, actually make them there.
Everyone does, now.
Can you please provide some details of what line of work and where, etc.? Also, what experience level?
