Fashion designer Donna Karan is "apologetic from the bottom of my heart" and embarrassed about "stupid" remarks she made last week that suggested sexual harassment victims were "asking for it" by the way they dressed.
Her comments on a red carpet touched off outrage online following sexual harassment and assault allegations against fallen movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.
Karan spoke to Women's Wear Daily in an interview published Monday, saying she spoke while sleep deprived and without knowing details of the mounting allegations against Weinstein, telling a red carpet reporter:
"How do we display ourselves, how do we present ourselves as women, what are we asking? Are we asking for it, you know, by presenting all the sensuality and all the sexuality? ... It's not Harvey Weinstein. You look at everything all over the world today, you know, and how women are dressing and, you know, what they're asking by just presenting themselves the way they do. What are they asking for? Trouble."

Why are liberals allowed to get away with stupid excuses, such as being sleep deprived, or not knowing all the facts?
Are conservatives, or Trump, ever allowed to use any excuse for anything? Heck Trump was pilloried for saying he didn’t comment on Charlottesville at first because he didn’t have all the facts. In that case, he was crucified in part for not commenting in spite of not having the facts. In this case, this woman gets a pass because she commented without knowing all the facts. But since she’s liberal, it’s all ok.
I bet her sales tanked more than the NFL. Insulting your base is not wise.
Her brand was pretty much done before this(My Mom used to buy her stuff back in the day) but gotta love liberal excuses “I was sleepwalking that day” Gosh I wish Republicans could use that one and get away with it
No doubt that along with the many innocent victims of Harvey Weinstein’s depredations, there are also many women who willingly prostituted themselves to Harvey Weinstein, to advance their careers and make make money.
In fact, many of the women in his movies who are not complaining, could well have willingly slept their way to the top. Some are probably well known. They may even resent losing the investment they made in cultivating Harvey Weinstein with their sexual favors, and fear being outed for the high-priced hookers that they are.
Like the dog that didn’t bark, those women Weinstein favored professionally, who don’t accuse him, are now suspect of having willingly participated in the corrupt bargain.

When one truly perceives that, one endeavors to find those errors of thought and flaws of character which led to the error. One INTENDS sincerely to do the work such a discovery requires.
One also seeks to deepen one’s understanding of the wrong and its consequences AND of the flaws and disabilities which contributed to one’s committing it.

I guess I would say, May her contrition be real and may it lead to the wisdom to which, in this fallen world, awareness of one's sin is often the only path.

Mind you, I really do not like the idea of using the behavior of dirtbags and the tears of actresses/the misfortune of an innocent as a weapon against an enemy (to quote another Freeper). Real men would take these losers out back and beat some sense into them. I am also a free market capitalist and I don't want to regulate anything unless it is in line with the intent of the Founders.
All that said, we're dealing with the lowest of the low. If the Republicans had any sense of testicular fortitude - or a desire to MAGA for ALL individuals - they'd call a press conference and say:
"Democrats are clearly pro-misogyny. Silence equals consent. They said nothing while one of their fundraisers roamed as a sexual predator in Hollywood.
"It is sad that the loudest Democrat since this story broke has been Hillary Clinton, as she acknowledged that the Oval Office has seen a sexual predator - her husband.
"The Republican leadership asks the Democrats to reject their harboring of anti-woman fundraisers, and join us as we announce the start of hearings on this poisonous atmosphere in Hollywood, with an eye toward regulating studios and actors and actresses under the Commerce Clause as so many Democrats have with other parts of the economy."
Others have noted that the Republicans likely have skeletons in their closet and there is a risk in this aproach. I agree, but maybe it's time to man-up and clean the Augean Stables. Frankly, I don't care if it's Hollywood or Wall Street or Main Street...this isn't the way real men act.
