Fox News Poll: Roy Moore, Doug Jones neck-and-neck in Alabama Senate race
Fox News ^ | October 17, 2017 | Dana Blanton

Posted on 10/17/2017 3:45:08 PM PDT by FourtySeven

Republican Roy Moore, the anti-Republican establishment candidate, is tied at 42 percent...with Democrat Doug Jones in the U.S. Senate race...

A Fox News Poll also finds that among just the 53 percent of Alabama registered voters who are extremely or very interested in the race, Jones has a one-point edge over Moore (46-45 percent).

...

The poll, released Tuesday, shows 42 percent of Moore’s supporters have some reservations about their candidate.  For Jones, that number is 28 percent.

...

Plus, 21 percent of those in the Jones camp say they’re voting against Moore as opposed to for Jones.  That’s three times the number of Moore supporters who say their vote is based on dislike of Jones (7 percent).

...

The main reasons Moore supporters give for backing him include party loyalty (41 percent) and his Christian beliefs (20 percent).  Among Jones supporters, it is party loyalty (35 percent) and their belief Moore is extreme (32 percent).

In a Republican stronghold like Alabama, it helps Jones that Democrats are more likely to back him (85 percent) than Republicans are to support Moore (77 percent).  Independents go for Jones by 33-26 percent (27 percent undecided).

...

The poll finds 29 percent say Jones is too liberal for Alabama.

On the other hand, 39 percent of voters feel Moore is out of step with Alabama today.  Even 24 percent of Republicans feel that way.

...

Only 3 in 10 Alabama voters are pleased with the way the federal government is working these days.  Most voters are either angry (22 percent) or dissatisfied (45 percent).

With the GOP controlling the White House and Congress, the Democrat Jones leads by 18 points (52-34 percent) among voters expressing frustration with Uncle Sam.  Those satisfied with the government break for Moore by 41 points (62-21 percent).

“I’ll believe in the Easter bunny before Fox News polling.”

AMEN. This is pure Sheppie Smith BS.

Turnout is key indeed - soft / unmotivated support counts as much as strong / motivated support if they actually show up and vote.

Utter, total garbage.

Moore by 10-12. Richard Baris of PPD polling-—the most accurate in 16, called this poll ridiculous.

Looks like a perfectly reasonable registered voter poll result.
Doubt that it’s very predictive though unless Moore is one terrible campaigner.

Registered, not likely voters (which they use in their NJ poll showing the socialist ‘rat 14 points ahead of the Republican in the gubernatorial race) - there are so many ways to lie......

In the article, there is a link to the full poll results

801 registered voters.

Political Identification
Rats = 37%
Repubs = 47%

Are the results possible with that party breakdown ? or are people telling fibs ?
after 2016 do we car about polls ?

Ridiculous polling

Trump won 65 % in a 35% black state with over 90% estimated white vote for Trump

The networks don’t do exit polls in solid gop states anymore for same reason IMDb quit its forum

No free ammo for our side

Moore wins slam dunk

The people of Alabama returned him to the state Supreme Court after he was kicked off it the first time. I don’t expect that they will turn against him now.

Very true. There will not be Republicans voting for a leftist Democrat in this ‘Bama race or any other.

“Actually trumped up garbage.”

The state of Alabama is not exactly a bastion of progressive politics.

And they removed him twice.

Hell, I would have voted to remove him. He refused to follow the law and jurisprudence. He set himself up above the law.

And he will not even hesitate to do it again.

However, I will not impugn his MOTIVES for doing so. It just means he’s not a fit officer of the court.

He is a zealot that puts his God’s law ahead of man’s law in all cases. Which makes him a good man, unfit for Federal office.

Unfit? as opposed to the current swamp drecks all fitted in their hallowed places now? Roy Moore--Change we can believe in.

Moore is a very controversial figure in Alabama, even among conservatives. I was against his getting the nomination because of his record demonstrating a serious lack of respect for the rule of law. And also because he may not be a shoo-in in the general election. I don’t know much about the RAT candidate but if he is not a complete moonbat there are going to be conservatives who will hold their nose and vote for the man.

Once again I fear we may have forgotten Reagan’s rule that you nominate the most conservative candidate who is likely to win.

God knows what more insanity the Left will have committed by 12/12, given Antifa’s 11/4 attack plans. We may see 2016 turnout by our side.

Trump emphatically said, if Luther Strange didn’t win, the Democrat would win. Trump and McConnell will do everything to make sure Moore loses.
