Back in the 50's and 60s, my dear departed Dad was a bar owner. He would not allow unescorted women in his bar.

His philosophy: "Women alone in a bar is nuthin' but trouble!"

Hard to imagine, but it was never even challenged back then.

My dad tended bar for many years as a side job.

He told me to never, never go in to a bar alone or sit at the bar. He also warned me about watching my drinks.
