I have seen much better actors than De Niro and much better movies than any of his. Day of the Jackal, North by Northwest, Roman Holiday, French Connection, Von Ryan’s Express, Bullit, To catch a Thief, Goldfinger, etc are all amazing, and De Niro was in none of them.

I agree he wasn’t at the pinnacle as far as acting goes and he is rather one-dimensional and type-cast.
