At the time of writing, it's just shy of twenty women making accusations against Harvey Weinstein, the star of Hollywood's longest-running superhero franchise, Pig-Man.
That makes it hard to keep up. So, if you want a single vignette that sums up not just the Weinstein story but the broader cultural environment, I commend this one, from Ronan Farrow's reporting - the story that NBC, covering for Weinstein, declined to run and that he wound up taking to The New Yorker. It's 2010. Weinstein is at the Cannes Film Festival, where he meets the French actress Emma de Caunes (whose dad I was on TV with a zillion years ago). A few months later, he asks Mlle de Caunes to lunch at the Ritz in Paris:
Weinstein told de Caunes that he was going to be producing a movie with a prominent director, that he planned to shoot it in France, and that it had a strong female role. It was an adaptation of a book, he said, but he claimed he couldn't remember the title. "But I'll give it to you," Weinstein said, according to de Caunes. "I have it in my room."
So they go upstairs, and Weinstein steps into the bathroom. He comes out naked, with an erection.

I think that most of your detractors here are missing the point….and there is a larger point to make as well. These ‘kids’ that show up at Hollywood trying to break in to that industry may be willing, able and ready to perform on the casting couch but if that is going to be stopped dead in its tracks, that means that the parents of all those kids had to raise them to have good and Godly values that would reject what is being forced on them in a heartbeat. Sadly, the nature of Hollywood is such that it’s the ones that weren’t raised to fear and love God that end up there and with no Godly values, the casting couch is nothing more than a ‘small price’ to pay for getting where they want to go. And the kids that are raised by parents with Godly values instilled into them? They wouldn’t go anywhere near the stench of Hollywood. I have an incredibly talented niece who was invited to Hollywood.... and what she saw was enough to make her get a plane ticket to get out of there the next day.

Yes, there have always been predatory men and there have always been women who will take advantage of powerful men to obtain what they want.
It shouldn’t follow that all women who are taken advantage of or speak out are in that group.
Agreed. I am tired of continually reading comments from (thankfully a small minority) of men who blame the victim while giving a big “wink wink” to their abusers and attackers.
We know that Harv is a pig. Nothing excuses the rape of anyone. Pigs like him need to put down. On the other hand you have gold diggers who will do anything for a break. This leaves a lot of women in the middle and in a difficult position. And men too given the numbers of fags in Tinseltown.
Personally I’d put a prosecutor on Weinstein but I would put a dozen going after Hollywood pedophiles. This is where the battle is going to be. If we can’t protect the kids we’ll never protect grown women.

Were I raped, I’d not take a nice film role as payment.
The women who took the pay are not victims IMO.
EVERY CHILD thus treated is a victim. Also I don’t blame them for taking any payment. These are kids being whored out by parents and agents. Pure victims.
I am surprised no one has mentioned THE BOOK, not the movie, The Godfather. Won the Pulitzer Prize. The sub plot of the child being whored out for movie roles was wince inducing. It’s gone on forever.

He is being accused by the women.
Too much time and no physical evidence make prosecution difficult.
He is being accused of rape? I hadn’t heard that.
If you go on YouTube and search Godfather deleted scenes, there’s one from Tom’s visit to Woltz that shows a young girl being pimped to Woltz by her own mother.
I suspect Paramount demanded it be cut.
I’ve only seen it once, can’t watch it again.
