When Gwyneth Paltrow was 22 years old, she got a role that would take her from actress to star: The film producer Harvey Weinstein hired her for the lead in the Jane Austen adaptation Emma. Before shooting began, he summoned her to his suite at the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel for a work meeting that began uneventfully.
It ended with Mr. Weinstein placing his hands on her and suggesting they head to the bedroom for massages, she said.
I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified, she said in an interview, publicly disclosing that she was sexually harassed by the man who ignited her career and later helped her win an Academy Award.
She refused his advances, she said, and confided in Brad Pitt, her boyfriend at the time. Mr. Pitt confronted Mr. Weinstein, and soon after, the producer warned her not to tell anyone else about his come-on. I thought he was going to fire me, she said.

Weinstein harassed every woman he came near. Except Hillary Clinton.
and now she’s just a goat
Ill never forget her saying When I get out there, I just want someone to tell me who I need to &$^% to make it big. Im ready.
They are not victims unless they resist.
Heartbreaking, troubling, haunting. But that's reality, obviously.
I remember hearing a Howard Stern episode show back in the '90s. He was talking to a young woman by phone who was out in Los Angeles, trying to break in to the movie business. She stayed anonymous, but it was clear that Mr. Stern had identified her as someone who had a shot, for whatever reason. I think he talked to her on a regular basis for his show, but I only heard her once.
Anyway, Stern spent time on this issue, talking about the casting couch, and what she might have to do, and did she realize what she was getting into?
To every one of his questions, she cheerfully answered "yes," and "I understand," and "I'm ready to do what it takes."
I've remembered it after all these years, and I wonder if she did become successful. This would have been about 20 years ago, so even if she did make it, her career would be on the down-side at this point.
Could be. Perhaps it’s why they are so strong about speaking out, hoping other women will act differently than they did.
I don’t say these things to be mean. It’s just perplexing.
At the end of the day, it angers me that these women were abused like this.
Men like that certainly don’t do other men any favors.
Hmmm....wonder of Jon Voight new of the experience Angelina Jolie had with Weinstein?
Shower up.....NEXT.
“the producer warned her not to tell anyone else about his come-on. I thought he was going to fire me, she said.”
so she’d rather keep her mouth shut, keep letting him get away with it, all just to keep making her money stream.
I have no sympathy for these people. For decades, not doing the right thing just so they can keep furthering their agendas of high income and profile careers for themselves.
hush money, even if not working directly for Weinstein.
I guess as a guy, you want to be protective of women.
If you are kind of into them, you almost feel duty bound to look out for them.
A number of times in my life, I’ve known a certain woman was going to be doing something I thought was very bad for her.
They really don’t want to hear it when you try to explain it.
It’s their right of course.
One good example is the guy you can peg right off as being a terrible human being, as it relates to women. You can’t warn a woman away from a guy like that, because they refuse to believe it.
Ahhh life...
It IS very sad.
Odd how these losers kept their mouths shut and endangered other women because of it. They should hang there heads in shame. Do what their handlers tell them. Cowards
I think there can be little doubt of it. In fact, he may well have known before she first met Weinstein.
I agree. I’ve found that most women prefer that a guy just listen, empathize with them.
They aren’t looking for us to fix things. I’ve had one girl come right out and explain it to me.
“You always try to fix things. I just want you to listen.”
Life, indeed...
“Think about it: why is this happening?”
Maybe the fat slob put his hands on his summer intern, Malia Lewinsky....
There are a lot of women who have done those things for far less reward, in much less glamorous industries.
My impression of Brad Pitt went up a notch. He was still a young actor when he confronted Weinstein and told him not to touch Paltrow again.
Great question ! My THEORY is that Trump told the NYT to get off this story that they’ve been sitting on for years and years (2004?) or he would expose it himself AND the fact that the NYT has been sitting on it for years and years! So they had to... no choice !!
And the reason why Trump did it is because Weinstein had something to do with the anti-Trump propaganda goings on during 2016 — especially with that Billy Bush tape. So this is all cold revenge.
And I also think, eventually, that this may all tie in with the uptick in pedophilia crackdowns that have been going on lately. But, ultimately, is a major, debilitating whack at the RAT’s propaganda machine, Hollywood (Weinstein) and the media (NYT).
Not one liberal is coming out of this looking good. It’s literally a gift that will keep on giving... like a slow bleeding wound that will eventually kill the beast.
Just a theory.......
Yes, of course.
The clichés about the small-town attorney and his secretary, or the real-estate agent, or the insurance salesman.
Not to mention Mad Men, and the big-city rat race.
