A book by an associate of Barack Hussein Obama predicted a "permanent progressive governing coalition" would be solidified by the presidential election of 2016. But the prediction in the book Brown is the New White ran into the reality of a Donald J. Trump victory.
This helps explain why Obama has not retired from the public scene and why, in tandem with loser Hillary Clinton, he has worked to undermine the peaceful transition to power of the Trump Administration. What really drives Obama & Company crazy is the white voters, mostly in the working and middle classes, who revolted against Democrats' "progressive" vision of society. Trump acted as an exorcist of Cultural Marxism, also known as political correctness, which was destroying their nation, their families, and their jobs through radical "identity politics" and unlimited immigration.
In announcing its immigration policy objectives on Columbus Day, the Trump Administration has once again touched a chord with Middle America and the previous "Silent Majority," declaring that it intends to ensure safe and lawful admissions, defend the safety and security of our country, and protect American workers and taxpayers.

As seen with Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, etc., these communists “paradises” enjoy a brief euphoria before reality sets in and people start to flee - the smartest and hardest-working ones first (as the targeted losers under communism). Venezuela had a delayed reaction because they had some petrodollars to burn feigning success, but now its all over.
Economic hardship (often caused by leftist policies) prevent any PERMANENT “progressive” coalition because they do eventually run out of other peoples’ money; as long as Americans (and their employers) can move between states and regions with drastically different economic and tax policies, then we will always have anti-business, anti-taxpayer “utopias” losing their best and brightest to better environments. What are left behind are government workers protected from real economic competition (with a guaranteed income stream for life) and masses on government assistance - as well as a shrinking number of producers paying for both.

As bad as things have gotten in South Africa (a coworker is from SA, she and husband became naturalized citizens a few years ago,) it could have been far worse. To see what can really happen, take a look at the example of Rhodesia. It was once known as the "breadbasket of Africa." It's now known as Zimbabwe.
