The Las Vegas gunman behind the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history spent decades stockpiling guns and living a secret life that investigators may never be able to fully understand, police say.
Clark County, Nev., Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Wednesday that it was only logical to make the assumption that Stephen Paddock had some help at some point in pulling off Sunday's massacre.
As evidence, Lombardo pointed to gunman Paddocks huge arsenal, explosive materials found in his car and his meticulous planning.
What we know is Stephen Paddock is a man who spent decades acquiring weapons and ammo and living a secret life, much of which will never be fully understood, the sheriff said.
Authorities also revealed that they believe Paddock had an escape plan, even though he turned the gun on himself as police closed in on his luxury suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
Analyzing Paddock's computer, cellphone and other electronic devices, Investigators have found no obvious ideological motive, no clear connection to extremists or activist groups or outward display of mental illness, The Associated Press reported.
Lombardo said Paddock had 1,600 rounds of ammunition and several containers of an explosive commonly used in target shooting that totaled 50 pounds in his car. But it wasn't clear what, if anything, Paddock planned with the explosives, he said.

Today on Fox, Harris Faulkner interviewed an ex-LV cop, Randy Sutton. He said a waitress who used to serve the shooter and his girlfriend. He always was so verbally abusive to his girlfriend that it made the wait staff uncomfortable and they hated to see the couple walk in.
Paranoid? OK, how did an accountant/gambler (nobody he knew said he was a "gun nut") become familiar with bump stocks without anybody noticing? I have never use bump stocks, but apparently it requires some skill and stamina to use one. Does the official story really make sense?
I hate to be the One, however: Jet fuel is diesel, of extra purity, and added chemicals to prevent it from jelling and waxing at low temperatures and anti-bacterials for long storage. It doesn't explode. It burns, eventually. All those "WHOOMP!" scenes on Youtube and movies are gasoline vapor.
Journalists and screen writers know from sh!t about technology, ANY technology, and that's why Jet A or Jet B can be stored near a concert site. Never, EVER believe what you see on TV or movies. It's all lies.
“Never, EVER believe what you see on TV or movies. It’s all lies.”
Well, most of it, sure, but the stuff about tiny, small-boned women beating up huge, tough men is certainly all true.
I didn't catch this. Did he say that last night?
He probably dropped guns as they jammed and grabbed another.
Which makes sense, but also says something about the shooter again. If true, he did not know his platform and ammunition. Either he had not practiced much or he practiced and, rather than find good ammo and gun combinations, just learned that he would need back ups for anticipated jamming.
The guns that have been pictured so far look like new and rarely fired, or very well kept.
Again, it will be most telling when they start releasing details of the gun, gun purchase history, ammo type, etc. Doubt they will show this level of detail in the press releases, but would be good to know if he had 2000 rounds of US manufactured milgrade or match grade ammo, or if he was shooting bargain rounds. The photos seemed to show brass, not steel, casings, so it wasn't the cheapest stuff out there.
People are a lot more cynical this go around. They can’t keep doing this over and over without the sheeple waking up.
Heard him say such live on Fox last night. He would not say how many were jammed, just that some were.
Not questioning your local knowledge, but the diagrams I’ve seen show it as a separate adjoining room with a door connecting them.
Muslim families walk around the guns and bombs on the floor and never have a clue what their kids were up to. Why do you expect an ignorant redneck and an innocent Filipino lady to know anything?
And if the Republicans ever get all three branches they will repeal ObamaCare.
> The bump stocks probably saved a lot of lives compared to what would have happened with the same crazy man but aimed fire.
I think this is correct. Anybody commenting otherwise on these needs to be asked if he has ever fired using one. They are simply for fun, for wasting ammo, and “because you can.”
So now NRA is selling out on this issue.
Maybe they will sell out next on files / Dremels and AR hammers.
“Does the official story really make sense?”
Not yet, anyway. EVERYTHING needs to be questioned. The slightest details.
Well, yeah, there is that. That's why all those domestic violence laws are nonsense...
Good one.
Bkmk
Paddock was a former spook gone rogue...and the deep state is anal sphincter scale level 9 about trying to cover things up!(just my guess)!
“Everything he did seems designed to highlight a perceived weak spot in 2nd Amendment arguments. He passed background checks, he purchased all weapons and ammo legally, he made a point of using a bump stock which probably ultimately lowered the death toll as if to put a novelty shooting item into the headlines.”
Key telling point...almost as if designed by the deep state to get gun control back on the table as seen by the narratives now being shaped through the media! I wonder if Paddock was already dead before the shooting started!
The people in the crowd knew when he was firing, but I don’t see any of them having the slightest knowlege as to when they were taking near misses.
Do you?
Do you uderstand the connection between this answer, and the post of your’s I’m replying to?
Maybe the vehicle and Tannerite were to be parked some place he could shoot it from the window. Maybe by an accomplice.
