Unless the gun was sanitized (manufactured with no serial number or had the serial numbers seriously defaced beyond forensic tech to get back) we’ll soon find out where it came from. If it’s a belt-fed machine gun, as most are expecting, we’ll really find out fast. Those things are heavily controlled items and all the ones legal to own in the US are on a Federal registry. If it was originally a military or police owned gun we’ll find out where it came from too.

I am very skeptical that it was belt fed. Even stolen belt feds demand big bucks in the illegal arms trade in the US. I am think homebrew FA. I currently believe that there was multiple weapons based upon some things the Sheriff said.
