Actually Goldberg's position is more nuanced than that regarding Moore, but you have to skip/ignore the Gladiator stuff to get there.

He's essentially calling Moore a conservative religious bigot cloaking himself in populist rhetoric to appeal to Trump voters while pursuing his own agenda.

Luther Strange would have made a more reliable Trump ally.

Dear Reader (and everyone else I have failed), I would respect Roy Moore a lot more if he began his victory speech last week by taking his gavel and hurling it at the CNN cameras in the back of the room, shouting “Are you not entertained!”

I feel the same way about Jonah Goldberg.

He may have a point about Roy Moore, but the snarkiness undercuts whatever argument he's trying to make.
