The cost of owning a house would increase for many Californians under President Trumps tax proposal.
Trumps long-anticipated overhaul lacks key details essential for meaningful evaluation, including how to pay for it and how the benefits would be distributed between the poor, middle-class and wealthy.
But its already clear that one provision disproportionately hurts high-tax states like California, New York and New Jersey that did not support Trump in the 2016 election:

California is a sanctuary state, welcomes the Dreamers, wants health care for illegal aliens. The chickens have come home to roost.
But its already clear that one provision disproportionately hurts high-tax states like California, New York and New Jersey”
So California, New York and New Jersey should vote out the sons of bitches that make their states a high tax state.
Greedy, inefficient, incompetent states hit hardest
They can fix that by doing away with state taxes
The chances of the removal of the property tax deduction being in the final bill run the gamut from hardly any to none at all.
Hey I thought the rich in California wouldn’t mind paying higher taxes come on Cher, Rosie, Debra Messing, etc..open up those wallets and let the dough fly
This high-taxed Pennsylvanian is feeling very betrayed.
We gave tipped the election for Donald Trump and this is our thanks?
Gonna need to invest in a truckload of K-4.
Doubling the personal deduction takes care of it for most people.
It will affect me but, whatever. ..
The man is a genius, force Califoreignia to drive their producing taxpayers and businesses out of the state.
Exactly this. You say you want to be taxed more? Done, here’s your additional tax.
Nahh, just punishes the rich, the middle class will benefit from the reduced corporate taxes and the economic boom it will bring. Sure, they’ll miss that tax deduction (as well as likely others.) But I’m going to guess in the overall scheme of things, most taxpayers would rather a lower local and state tax bill than being able to deduct it on federal taxes.
“The chances of the removal of the property tax deduction being in the final bill run the gamut from hardly any to none at all.”
I agree. Too politically risky.
Why are they crying? CA has been targeting Trump since day 1.
Sounds like a rehash of the earlier article from the LA Times.
There are a lot of conservatives in California who loathe and despise the scum that are in office via voter fraud. If you doubt that, look at the counties that are RED and who voted for Trump. Not everyone can pull up and move. And, the question is where to run to! There is no state that is perfect and without Liberal human waste. Texas has Liberal scum in Austin and Houston! What state is totally free of Liberals?
This provision will not pass to a final version.
No way.
There are 30 Republican reps in CA, NY and IL alone.
If the GOP loses even 24 of them, this does not pass the House.
This WILL NOT be in the final bill, in spite of the class warriors here on Free Republic wanting it too.
Oh, for those class warriors to consider: While this provision would hit CA and NY disproportionately, it would damage every person in every state who itemizes their taxes.
You commie, Social Justice Warriors expose your true nature.
Oh, and the few dimwits that are falling for the GOPe talking points, right out of Ryan’s office.
There are some states represented by Republicans that also have somewhat high property tax, such as Texas and Florida. I don’t think they can get a majority to agree to this proposal.
Fall back to any other SW state. CA is lost to the liberals, what with their now single-party legislature and all Democrat statewide offices. The state Republican Party was stupid and go-along-get-alonged themselves into irrelevance as they vote traded and agreed to lose their power.
In 1995 I quite literally abandoned everything to leave CA. If I can, you can. What price freedom?
But its already clear that one provision disproportionately hurts high-tax states like California, New York and New Jersey
Good. Its not fair that all the other states subsidizes the tax write off the high tax state taxpayers get.
