NEW YORK (AP) Through three weeks, viewership for national telecasts of NFL games is down 11 percent this season compared to 2016, the Nielsen company said on Tuesday.
Nielsen said the games averaged 17.63 million viewers for the first three weeks of last season, and have dipped to 15.65 million this year. The Nielsen figures dont include many of the Sunday afternoon games that are shown to a regional audience, but not a national one.

It’s going down farther and faster every week.
Keep spitting on your fans.
Baseball, America’s Pastime.
NFL football, the favorite sport of Antifa and BLM
It’s because of the election ...right? right?
11% off. I’d like to see that double. Anything >20% would be very damaging.....perhaps catastrophic....to the NFL and MSM.
Youtube: Pittsburgh fan, viral "Done with NFL, 3:18"............... Pittsburgh Steelers fanwho said his name is Robert L. Williams, a master electrician from Texas, said hes done with the NFL.He took out a $450 leather jacket with the Steelers logo on the back. Watch me burn it, Williams stated. He also took out his hats and sweaters.
My great uncles bones are lying in the bones of Pearl Harbor, Williams added. You do not disrespect the flag and the country, and the Constitution, and why we have our freedoms, he said. So watch this stuff burn.?.............
The number doesn’t tell the whole story. Some people tune in just to see who protests. The numbers that could bring the NFL to its knees are the reaction of advertisers and empty seats.
Waiting for Soros to buy game tickets for his rent-a-mob crowd just to ramp the numbers back up.
It’s close to -20% vs 2 years ago. When you considered the population is growing 3mil annually, those are scary numbers.
There is no doubt in my mind that we will win this battle. Once the TV ratings, ticket sales, merchandise sales, and advertising revenue decrease, it’s game over. The left went too far this time and will have to back down. Unfortunately, I wish we could claim more wins as easily as this one is gonna be.
These days, baseball is more like Latin America’s favorite pastime. That’s where most of the best players are from.
I once read an article that said that football and cars were both originally popular in the North, and then they both became more popular in the South. Looks like baseball has moved even further south. But that’s okay by me. At least the Latinos have great reverence for the game, along with the Japanese.
cool beans
The first rule of business - know your customer. Who the hell did the league thinks watches this game in the stands and on TV anyway? Antifa and BLM losers?
yes. Unfornately most of those who dropped it are probably the "I can take it or leave it" crowd, it will be harder to get more hardcore fans to drop it.
I hope that will happen though. It needs to fall apart so it can be put back together again WITH THE KNOWLEDGE that it will have to behave next time.

There are hardcore of FR who are making excuses for team behavior :(
They won’t give it up.
Exactly. I live in Metro Detroit. The stadium is in the actual city which is 80% black, but the ticket holders on Sunday are 80% white based upon the 10 or so times I have watched a game there. I hate to make this about race, but they went there first.
Next the lefty’s will really start to pressure Nielsen to quit printing the ratings numbers.
I think it’s because of the hurricane in Wyoming. ;-)
I bet 15% would be an industrial back-breaker.
