At Berkeley, there are both unequivocal voices championing the importance of free speech, no matter how inflammatory, and professors who say lines need to be drawn on campuses. These professors argue that the First Amendment needs to be reassessed for reasons that include the rise of internet trolling and cyberbullying and that some scientific research now shows that hateful speech can cause physical pain.

Pathetic. Anyone who experiences physical pain from political or philosophical discourse needs to grow a pair . . . or be institutionalized. And UC Berkeley is the wrong kind of institution for someone so delicate.

Sounds like someone may need a demonstration of exactly what physical pain is.

It should be proposed to these “professors” that persons unable to hear other people’s opinions, lest it cause them physical pain, should get the well known technology of brain electrodes, so that when they hear such “badthoughts”, they will get electronic shocks to neutralize any pain they may experience.
Such devices might be enhanced by having external transmitters that could activate them at a distance, with the push of a button, by someone acting to protect them.
So their students can peacefully listen to speeches by people like Ann Coulter or Milo, or even Sarah Palin or President Trump himself, while being calm and rational, not experiencing pain, or shrieking, crying, whining, throwing things or otherwise disrupting said speeches.
They can calmly signal their opposition by just sitting there and not applauding.
It’s a win-win situation.

Question for Fuller:
It’s a free country, ain’t it?
That used to be a rhetorical question.
But with Fuller and his fellow travelers, not so much.
