For the first time in its 250-year history, a woman will be joining the ranks of the Marine Corps as an infantry officer, the U.S. military said Thursday.
The lieutenant, whose name was not revealed, is expected to graduate from the grueling, 13-week infantry officer course Monday, the training center said in a statement released to The Washington Post.
ABC News confirmed the historic first.
Three dozen women have attempted to complete the course, and all but one have failed. About 25 percent of all trainees do not complete the course.
The Pentagon opened up all ground combat roles in the military to women in 2016.
Three unnamed officials told the Post the class will mark its graduation with a "warrior breakfast" at Quantico Marine Base in Virginia.

Sick that a platoon of Riflemen have to answer to a woman. A dark day in Corps history.
This would have never happened if Mattis was still alive. I remember he always said a lot of tough sounding things.

25% do not pass the course.
and 93% (or so) of females fail it as well.
they did not lower the standards far enough apparently. /s

Now, any grunts in her company will have to watch every little thing they say to each other, lest it be ruled profane and/or sexist.
No way I could have survived in a Corps with women in close proximity.

How does 1 in 36 women passing the course equate to a 93% fail rate? New math?

For some reason I thought there had only been 16 females to take the course and only 1 passing.
Oops! I misread it. Old eyes and it’s late. LOL.

Yes, it is time for the B.S. social experiment on our military to end. Women are life givers, men are life takers.

This is a notoriously tough course - for males. IF THE REPORT IS TRUE AND STANDARDS WERE MAINTAINED, congratulations are due her.
For her sake, I certainly hope standards were maintained. Because any hovering protectiveness from IOC, BCS or the cabal up I-95 at HQMC or the Pentagon is going to disappear once she hits the Fleet. And if she is assigned anything except a platoon in an infantry company, the jig is up (along with her reputation and career).
I hope she is as physically strong and mentally tough as she is going to need to be because the infantry is notoriously tough and unforgiving - it has to be - on junior leaders. Grunt field grade and company grade officers and SNCOs can be hard on male lieutenants...but they have a vested interest in helping the trainable ones to succeed. The incompetent and untrainable ones are usually found out eventually and relieved. Where is their interest in helping her succeed?
By the way, do you (or any Freepers) know if either of the two female Army officers that passed the Ranger course are actually commanding units in the 75th Infantry Regiment?
