Ratings in Weeks 1 and 2 were down 12 and 15 percent, respectively, according to Nielsen.
To be sure, saturation TV coverage of Hurricane Irma sapped some eyeballs from football during the first week of play
Week 2 might have still been disrupted by carryover impacts from the hurricanes that hit Houston and Florida, UBS analyst Doug Mitchelson offered by way of explanation.

Hurricanes.. of course! That would explain the half-empty stadiums in LA and SF!

And in the meantime, the owners are working to extend Goodell’s contract? WTH, does he have incriminating pictures of all of them?

“presumeably those ratings for the last half of the season would be unaffected by the election.”
The snowflakes (you know, the diehard, core fan base of the NFL) are STILL sobbing over Hillary’s unfair loss. They simply cannot drag themselves out of bed to watch a game. So the election was responsible for the decline last year AND it is still holding down attendance and viewing this year.

Praying? So now I know why they kneel. Practice doesn’t always mean plays and workouts

I almost started watching the NY Giants (my team) Monday night, but then common sense and a LOUSY team drove me away. I watched the first half with my son. He is a Giants fan and leaves for basic at the end of October so I try to spend as much time as possible with him.
They were putrid.
I was a Giants season ticket holder in the 80's and now occasionally watch the Packers. This game reminded me why I almost never watch football anymore.

Now they can throw in the Mexican Earthquake. Sounds like this guy's tag team partner.

Surely you jest. I've been a Giants fan since the early 50s and I'm STILL pi$$ed at Bart Starr.
Good luck to your son - you must be very proud.

Yup, that's it. I couldn't peel myself away from 24 hour coverage of a storm.LOL, I have been desperately looking for something OTHER than the hurricane 24/7 coverage for the last month or so. But, still won't tune into the NFL.
To: oh8eleven
They had better then, correct the foul crap that Kaepernick created and prevent it from propagating.
To: oh8eleven
Wait, I thought they’d already banned prayer.

So that’s why there on a knee, they’re praying.
To: oh8eleven
Why would they have to pray for a turnaround? Hurricane season is over soon and there is no election this year - everything will be just fine right Roger?

... how such entertainment stalwarts like NASCAR and the NFL could have fallen so far, so fast.
I think part of it is due to the lust for iron control at the top. It's the No Fun League, when you can get fined for carrying a Sharpie pen in your pocket to autograph a ball and give it to a fan after you score a touchdown. Individuality--you must GO!
The NFL has broomed out veterans in favor of cheap rookies, because we're supposed to cheer for the shirts, not for the players. NASCAR has promoted a new generation of polite Boy Scout drivers who drive safe in identical cars that are not allowed to take advantage of modern automotive technology. Instead of a test-bed for technological advancement, racing is now a bureaucratic bog.

The NFL wants a ratings turn around. Easy. Tell your players to shut their mouths for a spell and actually try playing some good football. That happens and people will watch. Players keep acting like whiney little bitches that have no respect for their country or the people that pay their salaries and play lousy football and you are gonna lose even more viewers!

Let’s see what starts happening to all those over sized player salaries when viewership, attendance and merchandise sales are down.

The NFL is approaching free fall as more people are cutting their cables and/or just not tuning into BLM insults to Americans posing as sports.
