A university president in Tennessee apologized Friday for hosting black students in his home, which displayed a cotton decoration.
Randy Lowry, president of Lipscomb University, apologized for showing centerpieces bearing cotton stalks while hosting black students at his home in an email sent to the school Friday and posted on Facebook.
The content of the centerpieces was offensive, and I could have handled the situation with more sensitivity, said Lowry. I sincerely apologize for the discomfort, anger or disappointment we caused and solicit your forgiveness.
The president reported that multiple students confided in him about the cotton decoration displayed during a Thursday dinner he hosted at his home for black students to share their experiences at Lipscomb with him.
I have heard from a number of students who would like to spend more time together engaging in conversation, said Lowry. I am most pleased to do so either in small groups or individually.
Other schools have taken action to try to redress the grievances of black students. The University of Missouri hosted segregated microaggression therapy sessions in August. (RELATED: Mizzou Offers Microaggressions Therapy For Black Students Surviving At White Institution)
The Daily Caller News Foundation reached out to Lowry and Lipscomb for comment, but received none in time for press.

It this for real? Or does the President just want his name and school in the news? Will there now be demands that store carry nothing made of cotton? This goes beyond even the Bolsheviks.
Is that the look you would expect from a mentally balanced and "centered" individual?
Me?
I would give that manic, threatening look either a wide berth, a strong right cross, or a 2 by 4 between the eyes, depending on circumstances...
What do you think someone like her would do with power?
Exactly what it looks like.
She was summoning "muscle" to deal with someone who didn't obey questionable "orders" fast enough.
I agree. The small university president is playing a game where he is in over his head. He is told that to keep racial tension down he needs to invite black activist group thereby walking into a prepared trap by activists. If they had not seen a cotton stalk they would have taken umbrage the Quilts on his guest bed not showing sufficient underground railroad code.
Its a game by racist blacks to “get a leg up” on “the man.”
Go back to running a school and leave theater to the Drama Department.
when the first neurotic discovered the Power of : "the force!"
People like these “students” make it seem so...
>> electrical engineers are still using the term “master-slave flip-flop.” <<
Yep, but not only that:
They still believe that a female electrical connector is fundamentally different from a male connector. So their entire profession is sexist as well as racist.
I've got a neighbor that had clansmen scarecrows in his truck patch.
I fly my CSA Flag proudly.
In my little area it's all Caucasian, mostly Scot/Irish and Good Old Boys.
We had a mixed lesbian couple but the random gunfire and hunting got to them I guess.
>> My grandmother and grandfather picked cotton in California <<
California today produces more cotton than do the “racist” states of Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.
Has for quite a few years. When my dad was running the gin they had delegations from all over the world that would visit to see the operation.
I was responding to a comment about lil ole snowflakes being offended by the electronics term “master/slave flip-flop”. Another use of the terms “master” and “slave” is from hydraulics, as in the brakes in your car. I was just parodying the reaction of po’ widdle snowflakes of any skin tone, to the shock of learning they had slave cylinders in their cars.
I’m completely indifferent to people’s skin color. I have no nostalgia for the antebellum South, but I accept that the ‘peculiar institution’ was a legacy of thousands of years of human history. An institution we in the West have happily outgrown, and for which our nation paid a terrible price.
I do hate thugs of any color. And truly stupid people.
We have Black and Latino families in my church. Good, working class, law abiding people.
That's what I want for my America.
Rude, Mean, Nasty people not so much. The offended class, not at all.
I hope this clears up my feelings about my previous post.
Up until the mid sixties 1st through 12th grades were let out to pick cotton where I grew up in NE Arkansas. We’d save our money to spend at the county fair once the harvest was done.
Thin skinned folks. And the skin is getting thinner all the time. Witness this. Ridiculous.
We are in total agreement. My original post was waaaay ruder than yours.
God bless America and her wonderful, productive people, regardless of race, class, or education. Curses and maledictions on the worthless, hateful whiners.
Of course, it reflects on the view of the university’s chief towards the guests. Not cool.
I do believe that. If advertising and media didn’t work, they wouldn’t be so powerful. The university communicated how it “sees” these incoming students, and it insulted them.
“Fanny, get that cotton centerpiece out of the cupboard. We are having them colored people over and I want to impress them with my commitment to diversity. What kind of food do THOSE people eat? Now move quick, girl, before I stripe you.”
Most liberal college presidents grew up in a bubble. That’s how they got there. They don’t want to help, they just want to look good.
Is this a joke?
This mentally disturbed individual was ultimately fired for exceeding her authority in a blatant, arbitrary and uncontrolled manner. underlain by real violence and appealing to brute force-— against a student photographer, documenting a “peaceful” protest. .
