U.S. package delivery company United Parcel Service Inc said on Wednesday it expected to hire about 95,000 seasonal employees for the upcoming, crucial peak holiday season.
These employees would support the expected increase in package volume that will begin in November and continue through January, UPS said.
Peak season begins on Black Friday, the day after the Thanksgiving holiday in November, and runs through early January when there is a large wave of returns.
The number of seasonal workers UPS hires for the holiday season has not changed since 2014. The company has about 355,000 permanent employees in the United States.

Donald Trumps argument that he was being wiretapped, which was so loudly mocked and ridiculed, now appears to be absolutely true, Judge Napolitano told the FOX Business Networks Maria Bartiromo on Mornings with Maria.
A new report claiming that former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort was wiretapped before and after the 2016 election could reinforce the presidents accusations that Barack Obama bugged Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign, according to Judge Andrew Napolitano.
This is in sharp contrast to the plans of other retailers such as Target Corp and Macy’s Inc, which have said they would hire thousands of more workers during the busiest shopping season of the year.
“These extra hours will help staff traditional roles like cashier and stocker, and newly created technology-empowered positions such as personal shoppers and Pickup associates,” Walmart U.S. Chief Operating Officer Judith McKenna said in a statement.
I’ll pray for you! So sorry to hear of your health issues.
Sorry for the late ping.
Our internet is frustratingly slow. Took forever. But - we will have a new internet provider sometime on Friday.
