President Donald Trump’s embrace of amnesty is in part due to White House chief of staff John Kelly blocking negative coverage from the president, according to a Friday report from Axios.
Trump has reversed his stance from the campaign trail and asked Congress last week to “legalize” the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) amnesty program that protects roughly 800,000 illegal immigrants. The reaction has been negative from conservative commentators and news outlets.
Trump has paid attention to outlets like Breitbart and The Daily Caller in office, which have been highlighting Trump’s flip-flop, two sources who speak with the president told The Daily Caller. However, a recent report from The New York Times said that Kelly has started to take TheDC and Breitbart stories out of Trump’s pile of media reports.
This is part of Kelly’s new regime in which there is more control over the flow of information to Trump.
Axios’ Friday report noted: “Instead of being able to march into the Oval Office and hand Trump the latest Breitbart headline or printouts of tweets showing how badly his amnesty drive is playing with his fiercest nationalist supporters, aides opposing the decision would now have to go through the Kelly process, which would involve submitting an official, documented, request to meet with the president.”

I don’t buy it. Does anyone really believe Trump doesn’t read Twitter on his own?
So he can’t just bring up breitbart on his web browser?
What good will this do? He can read them on his own time.
So when did Pres. Trump back amnesty for DACA?
Kelly is just fine with legalizing tens of millions of Catholic Mexicans to overwhelm the hated Anglos.

Here are my questions/issues with the DACA debate....
1) They are here illegally and that’s a bad precedent to acquiesce to. However, we’re talking about 800,000 people by most reports; an immaterial amount of people compared to the US population.
2) Most of them are hard working people that have integrated to the US society and only know the US as a home.
3) If they have ANY sort of criminal record, deport them immediately.
4) Wouldn’t the cost of deporting all of them, in terms of actual money, logistics, administration, and PR cost too can’t be ignored, make it NOT worth it?
5) I am NOT for amnesty. But the above could be a 1 time FIX to this issue, IF IF IF IF IF, we prevent it from happening again. So the only way to do that is to build the wall, hire/train more border agents, increase surveillance, etc.
If all that were done, and Congress could authorize it, couldn’t we swallow a compromise that makes everyone look good and allows these people to stay and continue their lives?
I’m strongly in favor of solid borders (such as they are) but the DACA people are a unique issue that needs to be dealt with uniquely.

When Trump does something we don't like:
"It's Kelly's fault! Trump is being bamboozled! Kelly hid the TV remote and changed Trump's WIFI password! Maybe he's even holding Trump hostage!"
So which scenario is true? Most likely neither. I'm not going to judge the "supposed" Trump cave to the democrats until something actually comes of it. For now it is all talk, maybe Trump is "dealing" with democrats, maybe he was just telling them what they wanted to hear and he has no intention of following through, or maybe it's something we haven't thought of. Who knows?
This is absurd. He watches tv and he tweets. There is every reason to think he is fully aware of what is going on. Plus, even the article says that aides can make appointments and meet with him. They just have to go through a process (which makes a lot of sense).
The fact that these DACA people are such a small number compared to the U.S. population is what makes any discussion of this issue in Congress a clear case of misplaced priorities.
I concur. Lot’s of fake news floating about now that the NeverTrump factions again think they have another opportunity to divide & conquer.
As usual they aren’t remotely convincing.
