WASHINGTON Shortly after learning in May that a special counsel had been appointed to investigate links between his campaign associates and Russia, President Trump berated Attorney General Jeff Sessions in an Oval Office meeting and said he should resign, according to current and former administration officials and others briefed on the matter.
The president attributed the appointment of the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, to Mr. Sessionss decision to recuse himself from the Justice Departments Russia investigation a move Mr. Trump believes was the moment his administration effectively lost control over the inquiry. Accusing Mr. Sessions of disloyalty, Mr. Trump unleashed a string of insults on his attorney general.
Ashen and emotional, Mr. Sessions told the president he would quit and sent a resignation letter to the White House, according to four people who were told details of the meeting. Mr. Sessions would later tell associates that the demeaning way the president addressed him was the most humiliating experience in decades of public life.

Maggie Hagerman. Just stop.
Never trust unnamed sources from the NY Times. That said, Trump should be unhappy with Sessions.
This article makes both Sessions AND Trump look like wishy washy men who don’t know what they are doing. Oh, LOOK! Gee, this article is in the New York Times.
I don’t believe the general outline. I don’t believe the alleged specifics. This is fully in line with the typical psych-ops of the leftists. Could be true, could be un-true. But, you have no idea considering the source.
The word Senator is becoming an insult.
Attorney General position is the ONLY defense a President has against the deep state.
Jeff Sessions you LOSER! RESIGN!
Let us elect Trump Jr and not duplicate mistakes.
Fake news. Bannon never said one word about this. And Bannon personally told me “Jeff Sessions is my best friend.”
I assume most of the people here think Bannon was really good.
Therefore it might come as a surprise that Bannon told me that “Sessions had to recuse himself. There wasn’t an option. He had to not be a part of the Russian investigation.”
Numbnutz Sessions should say so and ditch Mueller.
I agree with what you said. However, I believe Trump made a big mistake appointing Sessions in the first place and that Sessions was never going to be up to the job.
I think Trump was trying to repay loyalty and gave Sessions the wrong slot...should have been a minor cabinet position.
Easy for me to say...I’m not POTUS and not in the middle of a $hit storm.
And here we have people on this site who swallow the likes of the NYT hook line and sinker.
THE FRIGGAN NEWSPAPER HAS BECOME A TABLOID.
All the news we can make up-the NY Times.
“I think Trump was trying to repay loyalty and gave Sessions the wrong slot..”
As men age and enter the late sixties to seventies years of their life span, most become less aggressive. Aggressiveness was necessary for the AG position following the eight years of Obama administration. People often become more tired and often just want to get along. Trump was elected because he still seemed to have that aggressiveness and fighting spirit. Sessions has mostly lost that. He was excellent at what he was doing in the Senate, speaking out about unbridled immigration.
“Sessions is useless in his office, just look at all the people he will not investigate.”
Agreed. He is merely an obstacle. An inert lump.
NYT. Beware of fake news. Otherwise known as disinformation.
That’s true about age.
There are clinics that will pump up a man’s testerone. We ought to send Sessions.
Sessions wants better ammo and armor for cops so they don’t get hurt while killing the family dog.
So who was in the room with Sessions and President Trump to observe this ashen face and divine his emotions and then leak these observations to the NY Slime balls. . . I sincerely doubt that a consummate business manager, which is who Donald Trump is, would ever dress down a subordinate in the presence of anyone else, or later describe to others how that subordinate reacted to such a criticism. Once done, it would be over, one way or the other, done, not to be revisited or spread to others except for agreed action. This smells.
Sessions is part of the swamp...
What totally blows my mind is that anyone on FR believes bag’o’barf propaganda from the freaking NEW YORK TIMES for cryin out loud.
Sessions should never have chosen colluder RosenKrantz.
Sessions is held captive at DoJ by the holdover Swamp Critters.
