A Washington Post analysis puts Murphy near the top of the list. Murphy has said he doesn't want higher office at this time.
Sen. Chris Murphy’s name is near the top of a list of potential Democratic challengers for the 2020 presidential race, according to a recent analysis by the Washington Post.
Murphy appeared third on the Fix’s list behind former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Here’s part of what the Post had to say on Murphy:
He's also got clear progressive bona fides — on gun control and fighting Trump — without seeming like too much of a Northeastern liberal. He says he's not interested in running, but nearly everyone thinks he'd be an instant contender.
Murphy appeared before more well-known Democrats, such as outspoken Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and California Sen. Kamala Harris.

Who can possibly compete especially in business, on the scale of private accomplishment, with Trump? Trump has already been one of us, on the retail side. The same can be said of Trump, politically speaking as well.

The media put him up on a pedestal, and never took him off.

Obama from Illinois had white Iowa give him mainstream cred. Murphy won’t have that advantage. And Obama had Hillary as his opponent, and then McCain. Murphy would have a number of actually popular opponents in Dem primaries and then face Trump. Nuff said.
Catch that everyone? Progressive ideals are more important than the Democrat platform. Their party is officially done. They are now the Progressive Party.
They've already changed their name in Minnesota to DFL (Democrat-Farmer-Labor). The DNC will change their banner soon as well... as long as it won't cost them votes.

Minnesota DFL is an affiliate of national Dems. Minnesota’s Democrat Party merged into the larger Farmer-Labor Party in 1944.
