Former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon blasted the geniuses in former President George W. Bushs administration for selling out American workers and getting the country stuck in the Middle East in a 60 Minutes interview with CBS anchor Charlie Rose.
Bannon took offense at establishment Republicans associated with the Bush administration who went out of their way to question President Donald Trumps competence during the 2016 campaign even though nearly all of their genius ideaslike Paul Wolfowitzs brand of nation-building and neoconservatismturned out to be disastrous.
I hold these people in contempt, total and complete contempt, Bannon told Rose, adding that the former Bush administration officials get him riled up with anger like nothing else. Theyre idiots, and theyve gotten us in this situation, and they question a good man like Donald Trump.
Bannon blasted the geniuses in the Bush administration that let China in the W.T.O., and reminded Rose that the genius in the Bush administration told us, Hey, theyre going to be a liberal democracy. Theyre going to be free-market capitalism. The same geniuses that got us into Iraq.
Bannon also denounced George W. Bush and his entire national security apparatus, which included people like Condi Rice, Brent Scowcroft, Colin Powell and Dick Cheney.
Consistent with the disdain he has always had for the bipartisan permanent political class in Washingtons Boomtown, Bannon also blasted the Obama crowd, which he said was almost the same.
Clinton crowd, almost the same, he continued. Its three administrations.

Sadam tried to assassinate HW for that W invaded Iraq and took out Sadam. W put family business ahead of the nations’ business. W deserved all the contempt he gets. Neocons are fools.
We also gave him a kind of balanced budget which he promptly blew the lid off.
There is truth and falsehood in that summary in my opinion. We have to be careful how we institute that in our thinking. First of all, it has been a pretty regular belief on both sides for fifty years. Read Phyllis Shafly's "A Choice Not and Echo" written in support of Goldwater Conservatism in the early 60s. It carried the same sentiment. Then look at the writings of Bill Clinton's college mentor Carroll Quigley who in the 50's developed his conspiratorial theory of western civilizations inner workings to an advanced stage.
First of all, these people need to be understood as "functionaries" and also often seekers after place, much as many of them were understood for ages. If they are kept in that position and changed often, we have very little concern about influence and association.
That was the year that grassroots California passed Prop 187, the anti illegal immigration bill, in defiance of the elites in the GOP, the MSM, and the Democrats.
A number of GOP establishment traitors flew out to California to side with illegal aliens against Californias beleaguered voters- and that treason lobby group included Jack Kemp, Bill Bennett, and the then governor of Texas, GW Bush.
Only those of us in California fighting the illegal alien battle at that early date noticed. And remembered.
After that, nothing that W did that put the interests of Americans last ever surprised me. Its what I expected from him.
I say this as a (bitterly disappointed) Prop. 187 supporter: thank you for this post.
