The entire Florida Peninsula has begun to experience Hurricane Irma following landfall at Marco Island. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Prayers for all in the storm path.

But not as bad as it could have been. gas prices are dropping because the devastation wasn’t as bad as they thought.
I am prepared to do advertisement for hurricane screens. Cut the wind by 95% on the windows--and you can see thru them.
power still out, but we have lots of family who have electricity. Still very gusty here to TS strength, but it is a breeze compared to what came through last night..
best wishes to all my FL friends and neighbors who weathered this nasty Irma.
Made it through okay. Finally lost power for good after midnight. Had to stay up late as wind gusts much stronger than expected because eye came up over middle of peninsula.
For most of the State, it was more of a nuisance than a catastrophe, which all things considered, is a good result.
Hopefully people evacuated from the Keys, as they truly were hit hard.
Not sure if this is the best site for Fla road closures but worth a try;

Great news!!
Great news!!! Our power is still out too. We are usually fortunate to get it back quickly. Crossing fingers...
Yay, glad to hear from you.
Many thanks for your local report, and moreso for your service during the storm. Take care of you.
Thank you for your kind words and thoughts. We are good. Post storm summary report above.
Hope your brother is ok. We were following stories about Jax flooding. Atlantic coast took a pounding from this storm. My mother’s house doen’t have electricity in Stuart, while we evacuated her over here early last week. Ended up ok, albeit between a rock and a hard place. She is in a hotel with electricity.
Thank you!
Worth a try, thanks!
Stay away from windows.
Thanks for that link. Turns out there’s a storm tracking feature on it now. Some of have been updated since the storm, others have not. People need to put in their location in the search bar.

My brother in Tampa did OK. My brother in central Florida says it is widespread destruction. He said that so many trees are down across the road that you can’t go anywhere. His yard is totally covered in debris including street signs and roof debris. Lots of roofs missing, but his is good.
Setup line to old cockney joke-
“’Airey, ain’t it?”
Well it’s over. Lost power at 8:30pm last night. Went to bed for good around 4:00am as it was quiet by then. Hoping for the best for everyone else.
Pasco County has cancelled schools for the rest of the week. Trying to decide what to do now.
Yeah...how bout that last minute change in direction? It was a howler no doubt. So glad you’re ok.
Now for the clean up:) I’ve been out hauling some huge branches off sidewalk, more to dissipate my nervous energy than being a good woman! I was doing this when a young family strolled by. Dad, maybe 35, two boys, 9-12 ish. They stood and WATCHED for a bit, then the boys jumped in and began helping. On their own. Dad continued to watch. I made sure those boys knew they were doing the right and grown man thing. While Dad watched.
Awww, thanks. Yeah we had some nasty hours but came through it ok! Still blowing pretty stiff gusts, any cracked limbs above are getting the last push to the ground.
I think tree damage in central Florida is extensive.
