The entire Florida Peninsula has begun to experience Hurricane Irma following landfall at Marco Island. Thousands of Floridians who evacuated the Atlantic cost to Gulf Coast areas found their safe shelter under direct threat from Hurricane Irma as the forecast shifted W Friday night and Saturday. Prayers for all in the storm path.

So glad this wasn’t as catastrophic as it could have been! It took 7 landfalls before Florida killed Irma. She was a beast!

“Verizon cell service keep service thru the entire event.”
Love Verizon’s dependability. Other providers call with excellent offers on price of plans. If you can’t depend on being able to comunicate, it would be worthless. IMHO.
My local news ( Channel 5, Charleston SC ) just reported that Irtma has now been downgraded to a tropical storm.
Blessings. Thanks for checking in.
I meant Irma. Cheese moose curses on all typos.
That long coastal Cuba route slowed it, weakened it and caused the eye to wobble like crazy went it left Cuba. That coastal travel scenario can lead to a double concentric eye morphing into oscillating eyes vortices. From what I have read.
Thanks for the FOUR threads that you ran for this storm. I was a spectator for this (I am living in Germany) but have coworkers, friends, and distant relatives in the Southeast.
Thank you and well done. I hope you and yours made it through with minimum damage.
I am pretty sure that my brother in Jacksonville got flooded. He lives right on the St Johns River and 2 days of a noreaster had pushed water into the river and the water was almost up to his swimming pool before the hurricane.
Classic!
Wow. Trees down everywhere around us. Fences down, pool screen enclosure destroyed. No power or generator. But we’re okay.
All of my Florida family have checked in with me as of 5 minutes ago. Everyone is fine, but power is out for several, and plenty of damage to property, debris everywhere. Sounds like the hardest hit in my family are in Polk County area. They have asked if anyone knows where to find ice, gas, and road closure info for their location. They are without power, says their area has none. Few have generators. If anyone can point me in a direction where I can find that kind of info for them, I’d be very grateful. Two other family members have no power but do have generators running for now. So all in all, not bad for how rough it sounded last night, even paying attention from afar.
Where are you located?
TY.
All is well in Palm Coast, no electricity and flooding..can’t stay battery will die
Well, made it through the storm basically unscathed. Lost a few shingles. Never lost power. Rode to our other house and it too, pretty much unscathed. Not so for the old oak at that house. BIG (over 1 ft. in diameter) branches knocked down, but, fortunately, none hit the house.
Ah, just saw previous post that says you’re near Orlando.
For a moment, based on your description of the damage, I thought maybe someone in my brother’s family was a FReeper too. It wouldn’t surprise me. He and I discovered we were on another interest forum together without knowing ahead of time.
Glad to hear you are safe!
It’s folks that were far from the storm center that got it the worst.
So glad to hear you’re safe and your house is in good condition. Yes go get some sleep!!!
